best "wax"?
hey guys, i bought a 2004 daytona blue z and the previous owner got very minor swirls in it, they aren't really noticeable, but i am meticulous, i could eat off my car, i currently use mother's clay bar and wax, but i hear alot about zymol and zaino...so whats the best to use for cleaning up those swirls and giving it that great shine?
I have a SuperBlack and the eternal war with swirls. I use a Porter Cable 7424 random orbital polisher with Menzerna Final Polish II. If you use the orange pads (medium cut) you will get most swirls out, and best of all you don't have to be a pro - very little chance of you damaging your paint like with the circular polishers and other harsh products. The key is to do a little at a time and spend a couple of minutes on each area, then take the car out in the sun to see if swirls are still there, then get it back in the shade and polish some more.
After you are done with the polish, the Menzerna Finishing Touch Glaze will give it that nice shine (using a black pad) and then you top it off with Menzerna FMJ (full molecular jacket, and a red pad).
If you do that you get something like this:
You can almost see the birds planning their next bombing run...

Doing a good surface prep and removing the swirls would be a great start. After it is prepped, for ease of use, shine, protection and durability, I use Zaino. I've tried dozens of products for 35 years and to me it is definitely the best I ever used.

Mine had the swirls even being brand new (stupid car dealer detailers). Anyway about 4 coats of Zaino Z-5 (swirl remover) has pretty much removed (well filled in) the swirls.
The key is getting that paint clean, then start on working those swirls. GL!
