Default Polyurethane Coating

So a guy came by our office this Saturday and closed me and a Porsche 996 owner, a coworker (we had parked next to each other) on letting him put a polyurethane coating on our cars. He sold us big time on it. He washed them off and it took him over 3 hours to do both cars at the same time. Was he just jerking our chain or is this for real? I thought I had heard of it before. It seemed more like a polish, but he said it would be good for 12 months. The car definetely looks "wet" but its only been one day. Any ideas on this or did we get played weak?

how much did he charge for it. It probably anything more than a coat of zaino or any other similar sealents.

Was it Hiro at Sixteen Customs in Gardena? Why did your friend get it done?

In the best-case scenario, it's a Zaino-clone.

In the worse-case scenario, it's just ordinary wax, will last 6 months tops.

He said he normally charges $250 each but we closed him on $100 for each car, cuz we knew he didn't have many other options that afternoon. Apparently its just a part time "fast cash" gig for him, he works at a German bodyshop during the week, but he said he has been doing it for like 15 years. He had a full size van with a water tank and everything.

He said something about it being 3M but I think he was confused cuz I was asking him so many questions... Whatever though, first time I had ever let someone wash the Z since I got it, as long as he didn't cause any swirl marks, I will be ok...

sounds like a good con to me. similar to what dealers sell as "sealant" on new cars. but hey, as long as it doesn't damage your car WTH.
