I had the same problem using Menzerna Intensive on the mirrors on my 2004 SB ZR. Of course now there are so many chips on the lower front bumper and hood (I drive the I-10 in Arizona) that I've simply resigned myself to the fact that scratches, chips, and results of other weird road debris are a fact of life w/ nissan paint. I seriously doubt that my mirrors were clear coated.

P.S. Toothpaste (I use only Crest) works really well to polish nismo SS muffler and pipes.

Toothpaste cost a lot less plus it leaves a nice minty smell behind.

My muffler does NOT develop tartar, so I don't need tartar control.
