Angry Door Ding

My Z is only a month only, not even broken in yet (~650 miles) and there is already a ding in the passenger side door. I found it after a washing this past weekend.

Is there any easy way for me to removed the door ding or does any one know of a place in the Philadelphia area that specializes in removing door dings. If so, how much should something like this cost me.

I need to get this fixed.... I've lost sleep over this.

I'm sure there has got to be one of those paintless dent removal places there in Phili.

Sorry to hear about your dent. I know my first is coming... just don't know where or when.

I feel your pain. Try Dent Wizard. They are a national chain that does good work. I'd expect to pay $80 to $140 depending on the size and type (yes type?) of dent.

If parking wasn't so crazy in Philly, I'd tell you not to park within 50 feet of anything less than a Porsche, Benz or another 350Z.

I've been sooooo carful too. I don't even drive it to work (into center city) I ride the train in. I even have a "special" parking spot at the train station - concrete barrier on one side and a sign on the other. No one can park next to me. I've even tried to be one of those obnoxious people that park so far away when I go to the store that it take me a few minutes to walk to the store's front door... you know in the middle of the parking lot several spots away from any other car..... but wouldn't you know it, by the time I come back out, there is a car on each side of me. I think people look for new cars to slam their doors into.

Anyway... thanks for the info.

Default side skirt

I got a dent as well on my passenger side skirt. What is the best way to fix that since the skirt is plastic? Can't tell if it is a door ding (too low). A buddy of mine thinks there is a bolt behind the skirt that is torque to tight. Anyone else notice this on their Z?

I can't imagine a door striking your panel that low.
I guess it could happen, but it doesn't liik like it. Plus, if it was a door it'd have to hit it pretty darn hard to get the plastic to crease like that.

I have no idea... maybe there is a bolt behind there.
How long has it been like that?

DEMOman,

I noticed the dent a week after I got it. You really can't see it. The angle I took the picture and the time of day highlights it pretty good. I have to point it out to folks to see it. It doen't bother me now (it did when I first saw it) but I will have it looked at next time I am at the dealer.

i noticed mine is that way too. i think your friend is correct, it looks like an overtighented bolt of some sort behind the skirt that is tugging the plastic in. you can only tell when viewing it from an angle. im sure others' Z's are that way as well, its just hard to see. take it to the dealer.

I got my first door ding a week after I had the car in the high school parking lot. Made me want to cry, ever get the urge to just lock away the Z or put it in a air tight box?

So you know the car that did it, it was modded, and he goes to your school. Looks like some easy payback to me. Kinda dumb on the part of the RSX. I think he deserves a door ding, oh...lets say the size of a...foot!

I also live in Philadelphia, so I feel your pain. When I drive my new Z to work, I park in a guarded lot and throw on the car cover. This really seems to prevent dings. However, I can't use the cover when I park on the street - - just keep your Z away from South Street.

I highly recommend Dent Wizard. It took them less then 5 mintues and the dent was gone. You can tell there was ever one there. Thank you OMEGATLC!

How much was it and was the paint chipped. I got dinged yesterday Here's my luck the last two months:

1. In January a kid with his learners permit backed into my front bumper. There insurance paid for it - 772.00 to replace front bumper and repaint left front panel. Repair finished 3/6. Looks like new again. There were only 3 cars in a parking lot at the time.

2. On 3/7 driving in rush hour traffic and a stone hits my windshield. Left a 3 foot crack on the lower part of it. 50.00 deductable - will be replaced next week.

3. 3/8 door ding. Car was in the back of a parking lot in a corner. I was so close to the curb that there was 3 feet from my car to the white line and someone still hit it.

Here are some pics

My pics of the front bumper are too big to post. I should have bought a GEO Metro....then I wouldn't have to worry about it.
