People with knowledge on paint and clearcoats
Hey there, I just recently got a piece painted for my car at a local body shop, but i noticed it had a run/drip of dry clear coat on it. I know most of you will say bring it back, but can't i just wet sand it down? Isn't that what they do anyways? I really don't want to deal with them anymore, took long enough just to get the damn piece painted. whats the best method to get this done, and also what grit sandpaper etc?
How large is the sag? If its a decent size sag, take a razor and gently rub it across the sag. Not in a cutting motion! Once you get the sag down to a smaller size, use 2000 grit wet sandpaper to completely smooth it out.
When your wet sanding it, make sure it stays pretty wet. Also, check it frequently. If you go just a little too far, it's going to need touch-up paint or repainted.
One more thing...If it has not been 30 days since you had the repair done. Don't do it. Wait the 30 days for the paint to cure.
