So why do people not like meguire products?
Just looking for some information, as I just bought some clay, polish, wax, and quick detailer from meguires. But now I read on here that people don't like them, that other products are much better....etc.
I'm just looking for some reasons behind these comments, so I know whether or not to ditch all the stuff I just picked up.
BTW, I clayed and polished a recent bird crap etching by hand and it came out perfectly, I was pretty happy with it.

Detailers expect different qualities from products:
cleaning ability
shine
durability
ease of use
kind to plastic
time and effort
abrasive qualities
No one product(s) excels in all categories. No one product is suitable for all users. I have seen the results of 3-step detailing which look no better than a single $8 bottle of wax. Used improperly, the best products will give poor results.
Whatever works for you, stick with it. Chasing the latest trend in detailing is a losing proposition.

I like Meguiar's NXT Wax. It does a good job for me.
There's even a recent thread on it:

Meguiar's has some good stuff out there, but there is definitely better. autopia.org has a lot of good info. People like Meguiar's because they are decent OTC products. It's also popular probably because of Meguiar's successful marketing tactics as well.
If you need to get swirls or minor scratches out of paint (especially black), nothing beats a G100 DAP (dual action polisher) with #80 or #83 followed up with NXT wax. It's basically idiotproof unlike a buffer.

Ive bought the light and heavy swirl mark remover from meguiars and even used them with an orbital buffer and neither of them did anything at all so I am anti meguiars now. Their waxes seem alright but im going with the crowd from now on and going high class ish from here on out, im tired of wasting money.

Zaino is one of the longest lasting, and it looks great... but meguiar's products are less expensive, and do the job. Plus, their professional line is pretty nice if you know what products you need for the job.
Fair enough, thanks for the replies guys!
I guess now I liken the difference to that between craftsmen and snap on, craftsmen is just fine for the backyard mechanic, but if you make a living turning wrenches then snap on is the way to go. But that also doesn't keep the entusiast from buying and using the best.
Thanks again guys. I'll probably just use up what I've got and then explore the other options you guys have given.
