I use Zymol, because it's easily accesible at Wal-Mart. It gives a great deep shine, and is good at removing light grit (although you should always clay bar to do that). The only problem I have with it is that it seems to not last long. I drive 100 miles every day, and after a couple weeks, even though i know the wax is still there, it doesn't look nearly as good.

I'm going to be trying Zaino because you an layer it.

Oh and just for some info. Ive used. NXT, ICE, ZYMOL, and Black magic on my car and out of all of them I recommend the black magic. NXT is played out.

Meguiar's Gold Class. A little harder to remove than NXT, but cheaper and I think a deeper gloss.

He did say retail wax though...i don't think pinnacle, natty's or collinite and the others that really compete up on that level are available at wal-mart, auto zone, or pep boys. You might happen to have a speciality shop but mostly you have to order those...i mean pak shak isn't a naional retail chain or anything.

The consumer report is just a few of the ones that available in the big retail supershops and auto stores. I guess consumer reports is for the normal consumer and not a professional detailer or a real enthusiast. You don't see Mcintosh or B&W in thier home audio equipment reports...but if you know anything about that you know that anything one of these companies makes will blow sony or cerwin vega off the map.

A month ago when I was shopping for waxes, I was choosing either the $6 Black Magic wax or a wax that's 4X that price (Zaino/P21/Pinnacle). Couldn't be happier. The wax is holding up very well here in rainy Seattle.

I'm sticking with the $6 wax (that I can find at any Autozone) until I see a comprehensive comparison of ALL the brands.

90 percent of vehicle owners use one-step wax from the store.

That is my impression when the OP mentioned retail. No special order esoteric stuff.
