Reading all those steps scares me. How long did all of that take start to finish?

applying Z5 w/zfx and then buffing it off by hand takes about 20-30mins? Z6 in between is optional, and spraying that all over the car and wiping probably takes around 10-15mins....you can do the math after that.

This is a one time deal though, later on you can just throw on a layer of Z5/Z2 whenever you feel like it. The original layers will last for months.

 

It was my first time, so it probably took me longer than most. I think I started at noonish and finished at 7ish. That's including waiting 3+ hours for the coats to dry. You just do it once, it's worth it.

 

My black Z needs some love but 7 hours? Looks nice but I am torn between Zaino and TurboWax.

 

You guys suck lol. It's fun! Don't complain about the time. I actually did my dad's car the next day and that took even longer.

 

Zaino is one of the few products I haven't tried so can't comment. I've been very pleased with the results of the TurboWax, produces a really brilliant shine, and no swirls. I'll take some picy's and post them up later on.

Application is either the make or the break of the finished result, but good products make it easy.

Edit: Now with picy's, and unfortunately the sun was setting. Please pardon the low res, but the LMS Turbo Waxed mirror speaks for it's self. Oh, and the dots, were on the lense, eek, not the paint.

 

I admit, I suck, but I have 6 kids so 7 hours waxing my Z isn't an option. Your ride looks nice though!

 

i've heard alot about Zaino, mostly from Dr.Bonz, but im still very scared to try it on my PPW. I heard alot of people tell me about polish not being Clear coat safe...is this true?

also has anyone used Duragloss carwash?

 

It came out great. 7 hours is definitely extreme tho'.

 

7 hours wow... takes me with Z7 wash + Z5 and then Z2 about 3 hours with a portercable and tire shine

 

Ok, here's why it took so long:

First, I washed the car with Dawn. I did the wheels first. I did the roof and all glass, then I cleaned the hell out of my mitt to make sure that no dirt particles would be on there to scratch the car. I then washed the hood, cleaned the mitt again. Washed 1 door, cleaned mitt. Washed the other door, cleaned mitt. Washed hatch, cleaned mitt. Washed front bumper, cleaned mitt. I didn't have the grit guard so that's why I had to clean my mitt so many times.

I then claybared the whole car.

Washed the car again with Z7, but didn't clean the mitt as much as the first time since the car was clean at this point.

Then came the coats. First, Z6 spray, then a coat of Z5/zfx. Waited about an hour and a half (if you look at the pics, you see there was snow in the background so it was cold, meaning waiting time goes way up). Took off the Z5 and did another Z6 spray.

Repeated process again, and then once more with Z2 instead of Z5. Total waiting time was about 3-4 hours.

I didn't use a portercable because Zaino (and other members) have said that most of the product would be waisted in the pad.

 

WOW!!! it's so shiny that you can you use it like a mirror and shave. can you say BLING!!! very nice!!!

 

You do waste more product using the porter cable, but IMO it does about 3x - 5x better job than applying by hand. It goes on much more evenly and lasts longer.

Plus using the porter cable is way more fun

 

Probably true. Plus there is so much zaino left unused anyway. I just didn't wanna spend $100+
