Default car wash: DIY or automatic?

Do any of you use the automatic car washes with the tracks that push you through? Can the tracks around your tires scuff up rims? Just bored at work and was thinking about it.

I believe what he is trying to say is if you love your car like most of the people here do you will never even let someone else wash your car much less take it to a carwash. It is to easy to get swirl marks or scratches or take the chance that someone will mess it up.

DIY, I haven't taken my car to the wash in about 10 years (since I've had my Eclipse, and e46)...they don't know what they're doing.

Occasionally if it is really dirty ill bring Z to a powerwash thing if I wanna do a quick wash and I'll bring my own sponge. But 99% of the time its done at home.

As I posted in another thread, I will not take my car to a car wash any more. The guide rubbed my Nismo's. I think with stock 17's there wouldn't be a problem. My car is being washed and detailed as I type this. She will be all pretty for the ride home tonight. Sweet.

Definitely DIY!!!! I took my '05 SB to a local wash b/c I was feeling kind of lazy. When my car came through, my front license plate was bent at a 45 degree angle and the dealer cover was broken in half and just dangling from the plate. That was all it took for me, I've been handwashing/waxing ever since.

we have a really nice touchless where I live no tracks no nothin, just a little sprayer that moves around your car, I only take it there when I don't have time to wash it myself (never seems to be clean enough, takes most of an afternoon) but overall I prefer to do it myself, and as for someone else washing it, there are a select few people I would let do it.

if its pretty dirty ill go to the carwash and just wash it then come home and quick detail the hole thing and detail the rest of it. If its winter and salt and ****s on the road i powerwash it like 5 times a week to keep that stuff off my paint.

IF your still stock height, you need to go through the car wash. Lowered cars, do it themselves
