Default Nissan Did Me Dirty Again - Waterspots Cannot Remove

After I left my car at Nissan to get my axle noise fixed, they refused to fix my clicking axle noise, stating its due to my aftermarket coilovers and rims. What's worse now is I have Volks Winnings and Nissan washed my car as part of their service, however they did not dry the rim. As a result, there are water spots I cannot remove, primarily the lip since its polished.

I tried the following:

1. Mr Clean White Out Pads - Did not work at all, spots still there
2. Wheel Polish and Cleaner - Did not work at all, spots still there
3. Claybar - Did not work at all, spots still there

I thought for sure the claybar would have worked but nothing. I thought some of the spots would come off but its like its permanent. I'm not happy and worried about my rims. Any advice to remove this these stains without damaging the wheel?

not for anything, but don't they have to prove that your mod caused the problem? i mean other than then just saying so? i would think it would be kind of hard since stock Zs have had this problem.

as for the rims? dunno. sounds like you tried everything i would've tried. hey, since they aren't fixing something they should anyways, why not make them fix your rims.......or get you new ones.

lawyer up!

a vw dealer did (what sounds like) this to one of my cars / wheels as well. three years later, the marks are still there. I've washed them several times over at this point so it's safe to say they are never going away without being repaired (I've tried various methods of cleaning as well). Not to mention that that something like this is typically not as damaging to wheels as it would be to paint and I've never seen a water spot that I couldn't take care of on paint. Although they look just like it, i am guessing it's not water spots as there is no water spot that tough. i'm guessing it's actually some kind of damage from whatever they used to clean the wheels (something too strong that wasn't diluted enough or that should not be used for that purpose at all)

Anyway, if I were you, i would ask them to either get the marks off without causing additional damage or make them pay for the repair / new rims. Just because it's not their part doesn't mean that tey aren't responsible while it's in their possession. If they crashed the car, regardless of if it were under warranty or not, they would owe you a car would they not?

Don't be like I was and assume they will come out. Make them deal with it.

That's my big concern, that its soap that's baked into the rim. Word to other owners, when leaving your car for service tell them to NOT wash your car as they take it upon themselves to do so.

Any other suggestions as I'm trippin out about my wheels I waited 4 months for.

Try some vinegar on them, that should dissolve the spots without causing any damage.

Looks like chemical etching. You are right. It cannot be removed because there is nothing on the surface to remove.

Yeah, that doesn't look like your garden variety water spot. They probably used some kind of wheel or tire cleaner. Those are typically killers on polished wheels like the Volks.

Which dealer was this?

If that was me, I would've been demanding them on the spot to pay for repairing or buying new wheels and wouldn't leave until they agreed.

This is at Capitol Nissan, same guys that voided my warranty because of my wheels and coilovers. I'm going back to the dealership and get this resolved. Again, I'll take this as far as I have to as I waited 4 months for these wheels and 3k later. This is the worse car dealer experience I've ever encountered.

Yeah, F--- capitol nissan. Biggest bunch of losers ever. I have two z's and have taken both dowsn there to have stuff fixed. I usually go back and they did not fix what I told them to. HAd my wife's car down there 3 times for the same problem and it's still not fixed. F-ing MORONS.

Dunno if it's worth mentioning, but it was my 06 that I used to take there and they couldn't fix anything. My 07 has not had a single issue. (3k miles and counting)

Anyway, try Falore in Sunnyvale. Just be respectful, yet firm with them and they don't f around.

Sorry about your wheels. not sure what to tell you about them. I always specifically, but respectfully ask that dealers do not wash my car.

When I take my M3 to the dealersip, THEY ASK ME if I want a complimentary car wash... to which I decline. They know what's up!!!!

Ah...that's right. You were the guy that had issues with them with the axle clicking. Yeah, I've heard so many horror stories with Capitol it's not even funny. I can live with them not wanting to fix my axle clicking since I can easily go somewhere else but for them to mess your rims definitely deserves an arm bar. LOL.

Thanks GTNPU Z, I'm pretty bummed out, went to DnB to meet up with an old friend. Feel a little better but now back to crap. We'll find out tomorrow morning as to what's going to happen next. I don't believe any kind of cleaner is giong to work nor do I want them to try to scrube the hell out of it. I think the only options are having Wheel Techniques buff/polish it out (paid by Nissan) and if that doesn't work, I'm taking them to litigation to replace my rims. (sorry thing is if it even goes that far and they do pay, its going to take 3-4 months for another set)

I'm pretty sure Wheel Techniques can fix it. I've seen them do some amazing stuff to wheels I thought where totally messed up. I'd definitely make sure the dealership pays for the tab though.

Default Nissan Damages 4 Volk Rims - Replace or Repair Thought

So after Nissan tried to buff out the chemicals that got burned into the lip of my volk winnings, they gave up and said take the car to the wheel shop to get a quote.

Good News: Went the the wheel shop and said they can take out the damages, $700.

Bad News: They will have the machine the aluminum and the "volk winning emblem/etching on the wheel will be taken out as well. I've taken a photo of the etching

What should I do, make Nissan pay for new wheels or just live with less than perfect wheels I spent a grip on?
