Default Car wash with vented hood?

for those who have vented cf hoods that doesnt come with a cover for the vents, how are you guys washing your car? ever sinse i bought my hood, i never took it back to the car wash, and been doing all my washes at home so i can gently shoot water on my hood. but nothing stopping the water from getting in. i dont know if this will be a problem for my engine or not with water and soap getting on it. should i continue doing what im doing or will i have to find something to cover the vent?

The water should be fine going in there. I would avoid spraying excessive water in there, but normal amounts should be okay. If you want to block the water you could just tape off that area.

your engine is not a sealed compartment no matter what when it rains your engine gets wet even with a standard hood. Your car will not implode it will be fine.

I put a plastic trash bag over my air filter to prevent it from getting wet when washing my car. CAI's use a paper/fiber filter media and it will get soggy if exposed to water.

That would be something to check before I installed a hood with a hole in it. Call me crazy.

wow i never thought of that one im gonna try that. what iv been doing so far is taping the side of the vent with water/heat resistant tape, but i still see water getting on the filter.

Water "getting on the filter" does nothing. I don't know why you guys are so worried about your filters getting wet. In order to Hydrolock your motor you need to almost full submerge your filter into a puddle.

This topic has been covered I dont know how many times. If you worried about corrosion, then wipe down the engine bay with a clean towel after your done.

thanks. forgot it should work the same as cai. my friend had one running on hard raining day no prob then he hit a puddle one day down my street and his car died. i drove by and saw some guy pushing his car and laughed thinking "poor guy getting wet" then realizing it was my friend, so i had to get out and help push it into a gas station on a rainy day. sucks

sorry didnt realize i double post

I have the rain shield for mine but don't use it cuz it marks up the strut bar. When I bathe mine, I just lay 2 towels over the engine bay and close the hood. And why in the world would you risk taking it to a car wash anyway? Wash her at home.
