Default Interior Door Detailing Tips

Hey guys, I have my outside cleaning/detailing process down, but I'd like to know what products you all use on the interior of your Z - and mainly the doors. I have an 07 Enthusiast...so I'm not sure if the door panels are different on previous models. I have used Vinylex for a while on my cars, and while I like a light coat of it on the dash and other pieces of trim, I HATE it on the doors. The textured (aka "bubbled") door panels drive me up the wall when I'm trying to clean them up. The texture makes it hard to get an even layer of protectant on them, and it looks really bad in the light. Does anyone else think that the upper door panel looks rough? Maybe mine has some weird scratching on it from the factory, but when I put any kind of protectant on it, part of it fills in nicely, and part of it turns almost brown and looks really streaked. Have any of you ever used any type of cleaner and a brush to clean the panels with, and what protectant/conditioner do you use to make them look good?

Thanks!

I feel your pain. No matter what you put on there it never looks even in the sun light.

i use mild soapy water with a microfiber towel to clean the interior plastics and panels. aerospace 303 and a microfiber towel to dress and protect these parts.

I've been using the Meguiar's Dash and Trim Foam for a couple of years now. Not always the absolute best but definitely works on the door panels with limited splotchiness.

As for cleaning, wiping with soap and water should do the trick, diluted APC's, or diluted woolite works, too (or so I've read).

Check this out, I have an 02 Chevy silverado and they are notorious for having the interior start to peel. After some researching and a few warranty replacements, the guy at the dealership told me that any armor all type product was going to cause the interior to peel. Anyways, I hate the waxy, shiney look armor all gives the interior, so then I started using Meguiars "Quick Interior Detailer" Stuff works awesome. Not only does it clean and protect, but it doesn't leave the surface all shiny and oily. Been using it for about three years and the replaced dash parts on my chevy haven't peeled Looks like it just came from the dealership. So I use this stuff for the interior on my Z. Works great on the surfaces, even the clear plastic on the gauges. So if you guys are looking a product, Meguiars Quick Interior Detailer is a great product...

you can use a detailing sponge to apply the dress spray to make it go on evenly

I get a rag and dampen it with warm water. I just wipe the interior pieces down. Once you start using any "greasy" sprays...you'll have to use them FOREVER. They're like heroin! Just say no.

But yeah, I feel your pain on the textured door panels.

303 applied to a rag & then wiped on panels works just fine.

The most magical solution I have found is Armor All carpet and upholstery cleaner. As the title suggest, you can pretty much use this on all carpet and any other interior surface imaginable. You simple mist it on your favorite rag, rub some it (it cleans it) and wipe it off with another rag or microfiber. Works wonders! Even surface even in direct sunlight and works perfect on our sensitive Z interiors. I have not used it on leather and don't recommend that. This stuff is non greasy either. It simply cleans and looks new.

I don't use any products. they just atract more dirt and you have to clean them more often. I just wipe everything down with a damp cloth. I have frost interior so sometimes stuff gets a little dirty, then I just use 409 and a magic eraser.

Clean with soap and water. Dry, apply 303 aerospace or einzett cockpit detailer to a mf towel and rub into the door, let stand long enough to do the other door and dash/ interior panels thennnnn, buff off with a clean mf towel. and your interior has a nice matte finish that isnt greasy feeling/ looking and protected very well.

This is a good response! The key is not spraying the product directly on the door panels.

I like 303 protectant and used it on my Z when I had it, but have recently changed over to using Einzett Cockpit Premium only. It is really amazing and gives the most matte finish I have ever experienced.

I like 303 Protectant for a nice wet look, but for those that prefer a more natural finish you can go with Chemical Guy's Natural Shine. The cheapest way for a basic clean with no shine is diluting some Tide and damping a micofiber with it just to wipe off the dust. It will smell nice and clean, but I prefer the UV protectant of the CG stuff.
