Default Crystal Guard = Permaplate?

I've bought a few cars over the years and everytime the dealers offer paint protection called Permaplate. They say it eliminates the need for waxing and is like a harder shield than regular wax etc etc... Doesn't that sound like what Crystal Guard is pitching? I went to www.permaplate.com and lo and behold I see the same kind of products like maintainence kits and permaplate car wash products.. sounds like Crystalguard to me. Are the products just the same thing or very similar? Cuz everyone has always told me to always opt out of getting paint protection and scottchguard etc when you buy a car cuz it's just the dealers way to rip you off of more money. Can you Crystalguard guys tell me what's the difference in their product and your's?

I'm lookin into CG as well. Permaplate was offered to me by the dealer, but (if I remember) it is more than $400. The other difference may be the formula, I think CG is glass-based.

I've never tried either of them tho.

Well I've never tried CG but I did have Permaplate applied to my 03 Expedition when I bought it. It's a black EB & the dealer told me I wouldn't have to wax or worry about water spotting.......WRONG. The thing spots like a mother & you have to reapply the PP every six months (maintenance kit supplied when purchased). Although I'm not impressed with the external application, I must say the interior protection is top notch!. I'm concidering Zainoing the exterior.

My brother sells cars and the dealer pays $45 bucks for the "paint Sealant" but charges the customer $400+ for the treatment. Buyer beware!

Hey! Is what you folks mention above the same as "AutoMate"? I got it from the dealer and MUST go back every 6 months to have them reapply it to my car. Also, I have been told by the dealer that if they put my car through the "machine" it may scratch the car.....Is it worth it? Any advise would be great and its time to for the new application...

Yep. I didn't mind paying on the expo though. Pretty labor intensive for that beast.
