Default Emergency! Calling Dr. Bonz

...or anyone else who can help.

I washed the "dust" off my car this evening after it had been sitting in the garage for weeks at a time. (Background: Z is over 1 year old, sits in the garage a lot and still under 500 miles) As I was putting the finishing touches on the Super Black finish, aside from the mild swirl marks, I looked closely at the paint and thought to myself, "Self, it sure looks clean, but did the super black have any metallic flake in it?" Then, as I sat inside the car to clean the windows, I noticed that there was a film of "dust" on the windshield. I went outside to clean it, and "Oh, $h!t! That's not dust. That is a super fine dusting of paint on the car!" It was then that I remembered my wife several weeks back did some painting in the garage. Now my car is covered in a very fine dusting of bronze colored paint.

1. Any ideas how to get this off the glass?

2. Any ideas how to get this off the paint?

3. Any ideas how to get the extra mild surface scratching out of the black paint?

4. Any ideas how to preserve the finish?

5. Any recommendations for quality car covers?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Easy, use a clay bar on the glass and paint to remove the overspray, that is what clay bars where first invented for.

for a car cover, call California Car Cover, tell them what you want the cover to do and they will tell you which one of their materials would best suit your needs.

Yep! Do the claybar lubed up with some Dawn or some other soap. That'll remove the overspray.

I would CLAY BAR the wife first, LOL.

Oh man, I tell you one thing, if my wife did that, she would be claying right along side of me.

Here's a small story, I will share with you if you have a few minutes.

May 2002: I buy the wife a 2002 Pearl White Maxima 6spd, paying cash.

1 month later, she wants to meet her parents and take a scenic trip through the Grand Canyon. Needless to say over 3500 miles later, we are back at home. And over 1000 of those miles were driven on roads that had fresh tar. (I hate it when you can feel the tar hitting the wheel well, lol), wasn't funny at the time.

And to top it off, as we were following my father-in-law in his 02 Ford Explorer, I get 2 rock chips from him.

So when my (well hers, lol) Pearl White Max gets home and I do some serious inspecting, it looked like Rocky Road Ice cream.

It took me 4 hours of claying and using tar/bug remover, and then another 2 hours on top of that waxing the car with Meguiars Gold class wax. And guess who was right along side of me claying and rubbing the whole time? Yep you guessed it, my wife, LOL.

So I hope your wife is helping you out some, I would let her do the windows if you're as **** as me.

Gl, I hope everything comes out.
