Default Stock Wheels?

What do you guys use to wash your stock wheels? I usually just wash with soap and water, but its never shiny and clean, and brake dust still stuck in corners. I bought meguires mag and aluminum polish to clean my exhaust a few months back, would it be safe to use that on the stock 08 wheels?

Yea same here. But it doesn't get super clean. I always have some brake dust and other crap that I can never get out.

for stock wheels i just use a rag first to get all the dust and black out then i spray them with some wheel cleaner that you can get from auto zone or checkers. theres many kinds depending on wat type wheels you have chrome aluminum ext. but then last i go over my wheels with a clean sheet of mechanic paper its that blue looking paper that is tuff as hell and you can do about all four wheels with one sheet.

2 words :::PURPLE POWER:::, can get it at any parts store.

Spray the wheels reeally good with this product and let sit for a couple minutes, then simply spray down with water hose then wipe dry with microfiber rag......works perfect.

The OEM wheels are painted just like the car. I recommend:

a. Rinse
b. Spray bottle with 50/50 solution of Mr. Clean/water. Spray liberally and let sit for 5 minutes

c. Agitate with a mitt. For the inside of the wheels use a special purpose long brush. Each spoke has 3 square indentations. I use a tooth brush.
d. Rinse
e. Dry with leaf blower
f. Wax when you wax the car.

Do NOT use the metal polish on the wheels! As davidv mentioned they are clear coated and it will *** them up.

Simple Green on a cool dry wheels, rinse with hose, then use either the remainder of my Poor Boys Suds or Mequire's Gold Class car wash with a nylon wheel brush followed by a soft terry cloth. Have been doing this for years on all my car wheels and works well and is cheap.

If a cleaning with regular shampoo is not working then try using a wheel cleaner like the P21S Wheel Gel or the Chemical Guys Wheel and Rim Citrus Cleaner. Both formulas are pH balanced so they won't harm any wheel finish. After that step some really stubborn and embedded brake dust may remain. For this step I use the P21S Finish Restorer, which is a deep cleaning metal polish. This product is safe on most bare metals and is safe to use on all clear coated wheels. Just put one small drop on a soft towel and buff the area with light to medium pressure and then wipe away the left over residue.

You may also want to consider protecting your wheels with the Poorboy's World Wheel Sealant. It provides a layer of protection that makes future cleanings much easier. If you have any other questions please let me know.
