Default Clay before clear bra?

Hey guys,

I picked up my new Z this week and I am taking it down tomorrow to get a clear bra put on. I am wondering if I should clay the areas where the bra will be applied prior to taking it down there so it is as clean as it possibly can be. Do you think it will make a difference?

Hi Scott,

I say do it. It's no real additional effort to Zaino that part of the car, and you might as well protect the entire car in case you ever want to take the bra off.

Incidentally, did you pick up your new Z at Power Nissan of Irvine? I took your advice and drove off with a new Redline Touring from those guys, with the VPP discount. Were you the one who ordered the SB Touring w/ nav and burnt orange leather? If it was, I could KILL you...I wanted that car after seeing it at the dealership!

I wasnt going to use zaino seeing as how they would probably use some kind of solvent to strip off any wax I would apply there anyway. Claying alone makes a huge difference in appearance and hopefully I will be able to "lock in" that look with the bra. I plan on doing the complete Zaino cycle on the entire car in a couple weeks.

Yes I got my Z from Power Nissan in Irvine using the VPP as well. It is a Liquid Aluminum 6MT touring. SB was my second choice :-) Im glad you were able to use Power Nissan!

Thanks for the advice.

CLAYING WON'T HURT, BUT THE installer should strip everything off with their cleaners they use.

Ensure they are doing this indoors, some do it outside, I call them folks trailers, if you know what I mean by that.

Is it pre-cut? Who's doing it?

I am not being nosy, but be careful with clear bra's. There are a lot of imitatators who will FU%^ your car up.

Also I recommend they wrap the bra and not trim the edges with a razor blade.

My .02, since my entire car was razor bladed.

GL.

Say hi to Daniel for me when you have your clear bra done. My came out real good. Daniel will tell you not to wash it for couple of days to make sure the clear bra will dry out faster. I waited couple of weeks before I zaino the clear bra but I did zaino the painted area before that.

Congrat on your new Z. Good luck and drive safe.
