Default What to use on door handles? Brad?

The door handles on the 350Z seem to attract fingerprints like there's no tomorrow. Any idea on what would be the best coating to put on them? (both for long term protection and for minimizing the fingerprints)

In thw words of Homer Simpson:

Postman- "hello sir welcome to the post office"

Homer-"Hello, my name is Mr. Burns. I beleive you have some mail for me."

Postman-"Ok, whats your first name sir?"

Homer-" I don't know..."

I honestly dont know. I hate the finger prints too. I wouldn't use a metal polish though. Just some QD spray works fine for me, but your still gonna get the finger prints.

No idea for the handles except daily washing. My question: What about the surface immediately behind (rear) the handle? Anyone who wears a ring may scratch the paint (or what if they have their keys in hand). 3M film?

Ideas?

some one posted recently and had 3m installed behind the handles. i think that is pretty good idea for protecting the paint - albeit it doesn't do much for the fingerprints...

Wouldn't use chrome polish. Most anything will clean them up easily, just a question o how o do it saftly.

Water would be the first and only thing I would use on the door handles.

I put Zaino on them, Z-2 followed by Z-6. They look fine to me, and don't have too many finger prints. Hope this won't damage the chrome...but Zaino is for all non-porous surfaces right?

What we need is some aftermarket "Aluminum" door handles. Then anything goes.

I think someone mentioned using a carnuba based wax on the handles, since they are unfinished metal. I think the same person said that using Zaino or other polishes was a bad idea for some reason.

BTW any unfinished metal will be porous to some extent, there are natural gaps in the crystal structures of metal and unless the metal was compressed under EXTREME pressure then billet machined there will be some porousity.. Trust me, I have some experience with this as a engineer.

I'd be against using chrome polish, brasso or other polishes because they are rather harsh chemicals, and could really frag you paint if some spilled on it or it could etch the surface of the door handles.

I believe the TIre treatment Brad raves about is called Aerospace 303. You can find it here: http://www.properautocare.com/303-16.html
