help!! plastic cover of the gauges
Hey guys I need some help. I just recently (2 days ago) picked up my Z from a dealership 3 hours away from here. It's an '03. So before I went and got it they had apparently detailed the entire car for me. Well I didnt even notice it until after i got home but two of the three gauges in the center console are now messed up. Both the oil pressure and voltage gauges look terrible. It appears that there is something covering the clear plastic on the gauges. From what I can guess, they were spraying some type of armor all material on the dash but just went right ahead and sprayed it on the clear plastic as well. Anyway, it makes it look really foggy and runny down the plastic. I've tried spraying a towel with windex and wiping it off and it did nothing. I also just tried laundry detergent and didnt work either. Are there any products that get this stuff off?? Normally I would take it back to the dealership but like i said its 3 hours away..
i've had two suggestions from other people so far and figured i'd run em by you guys first before i try. one person said to maybe try salt and vinegar to remove the armor all. another suggestion was isopropyl alcohol. Do you know if either of these will work? I would try them now but don't want to do any damage to the plastic and wasnt sure if either of those would
just to give you guys an update, nothing seemed to work so I took it to the local nissan dealership, their detail guy tried to clean it as well but was unsuccessful, said I need to replace the gauge lense. Went to the service desk and they put in an order for a new lense. She said they may need to actually order the whole gauge because the lense isnt a seperate part that can be ordered?? anyway, not sure if its going to cost me anything or not. should that be covered under the warranty??
