This is my first HPDE. I haven't done any Auto-X sessions this season yet. I haven't even collected my trophy from last year! I signed up for the HPDE as a reward to myself. I have tires that I can use for the HPDE, but I kind of wanted a stickier tire. I have yokohama's and bridgestone's I could use though.

I would not run R-comps on your first HPDE. They have a vague, quick break-away. They also don't communicate all that well. Run the street tires. If you really want a good tire...look at star specs, RS3, Re-11, etc in 245 or 255.

Yup, 265 on 8.5s.

Bastid!

I actually really like the A6s for HPDEs. They do wear more quickly, but I like the near-immediate grip. I did use them on "cooler" days though.

Do not use drag radials for a track day.

NT01 is a good track tire.

275 tire is ok a minimum 9" wheel. I do have some scrub 17s (Kumho Victoracers) that you could have for cheap.

Agreed.

If you have 18" stockers, I also have a few 255/35 RE01R tires.

I also have four 245/40/18 Kumho XS tires that you could have for almost nothing. Low tread, but they were still working great when we last used them for an HPDE.

Yeah I had initially bought some star specs in 255, but sold them since I wasn't running Auto-X this year.

Nope. I only run 18s, and there are many more 18" scrubs than 17" scrubs. Tire manufacturers actually design the tires around 18" wheels. All the other sizes are a mere expand/squeeze from the 18" sizes. 285/30 is a perfect tire for us - wide, not much sidewall, and lightweight.
