Default Dropped my ET .55 seconds after final drive swap

Last weekend I was able to swap pumpkins with a 6MT model so that I now have the 3.53 final drive. My previous best at the track here, which is at 3,000ft above sea level, was 14.86 @ 95.3 with JWT Popcharger and Injen SES exhaust. Tonight my best time was 14.33 @ 98.7! I never thought the 3.53 final drive would make that much difference. I need to make a trip to San Antonio and try for a 13.9.

Thanks a lot. This is definitely THE mod to get. San Antonio is only 300ft above sea level instead of 3,000ft where I live, but its a five or six hour trip. I dont know if that will be happening anytime soon.

.5sec quicker with the 3.55 ratio? Damn that means I will be running in the low 13s! Trapping 104! I got to look into that!

Well, you can get the gears with all the other parts that you need from Performance Nissan for $500. Then you just have to figure out installation. Or you can swap the pumpkin with somebody that has a 6MT or find a wrecked Z and take that one. Swapping pumpkins is a lot easier. Thats what I did and it only took about an hour. ZZZYA found one from a wrecked Z so he would be the best person to talk to about that.

the track is at 600 sea level

and the difference in track elevation was the BIG difference in yoru times, not your gears

yall should be going with the 3.90 gears if you want big improvements

The track that I run at is at 3000 elevation. I think you might have misunderstood me. I WANT to go to San Antonio to run even faster.

I went with the 3.53 gears because it was basically free. I just swapped pumpkins with another car. Its about $1,000 for the 3.90s.

Have you ever seen the website chasinracin.com? They have a racetrack locator and it says San Antonio Raceway is at 300ft.

Going from open diff to vlsd is most of your improvement.

I have an Enthusiast model which comes with the limited slip already. Only the base model has the open diff.

Speaking of LSD's, I wonder if the Nismo (says 4 bearings instead of the stock's 2) actually helps anything. Ya, it may be tougher for higher power applications, but when I spin I always spin both tires. So I would say the 'ol stocker is doing well.

not to say that there wasnt an improvement, but not accounting for atmospheric differences is leaving a lot up in the air. I run .4 sec slower in the middle of july here than i do in the end of march without changing anything on my car
