Default 12.5 @ 112 mph on 245/40/18 Goodyear F1 street tires!

It was a good night last night out at San Antonio Raceway. I managed to pull off my best times yet with my street tires. I had been hitting 12.7-12.8 pretty consistently with the 245/45/18 Goodyear F1's that I have, but last night things really went well!

I have hit 1.9 sixty foots with these tires quite often, but this time I changed the spray pattern of my Maximizer to up my power just after 60' and the results were quite obvious.

I am progressively spraying a 100 shot via the NX Maximizer and a laptop computer, so it is not actually spraying a 100 shot all the way down the track. I have each gear set up to ramp different shots at different RPM's based on the gear I am in at the time. This is the only reason I am able to keep traction with regular street tires. I even have it spraying a controlled baby shot in first.

I was lined up with a brand new 05 GTO and he killed me on reaction time and really motivated me to run hard! Next time I will not fall asleep at the light and we will leave the line together. Either way, I reeled him in by the top of 2nd and pretty much left him from that point on. He had an auto and was running 13.7's all night long.

Nice times But are you sure it was the 400hp GTO? They run low 13s all day.

Considering that the owner of the LS2 powered 2005 Pontiac GTO gave me a tour of the vehicle, I would have to say that I am more than sure that it was the 400 HP (flywheel) version.

In my initial post I stated that it was an automatic, which may have played a role in how slow he was running, however, since he was driving an auto, he was killing a lot of people with a fantastic reaction time. An additional factor was that the guy literally weighed about 350 lbs or more. If the gentleman who owns the GTO is reading, no offense intended. I am just trying to justify your times. The guy told me that after his first pass, his GTO weighed in at 4150 with him in it.

So when you take those two factors into consideration, you can easily see that even though he drove the car extremely well, he was still limited in how quick he could run. You figure a tenth or two for the auto and almost two tenths for his the extra driver weight and you have anywhere from 3 to 5 tenths added to the time of a GTO with a 6 speed and average sized driver.

So you are right about GTO's running low 13's, but not this particular one.

One other thing I noted during our conversation was that he was not able to get his trap above 101 mph all night long.

Wow, nice 60ft and great times. Have you ever dyno'd with the N20? What is your best time n/a? Seeing things like this really makes me want to not spend all this $$$ on FI + rebuild and just run a well equipped N20 system, congrats

Alberto,

Thanks for the comments! Yes I did dyno with the nitrous and at the time I was spraying a progressive 75 shot. Of course, these are no longer the numbers that my car is putting out, but it hit 337 hp and 389 tq.

As far as my best time NA, it was a 13.4 @ 106.97 mph with a 2.09 60'. All times you see from me are on roughly stock sized street tires. I think with a set of DR's or slicks and a way better 60', I would have broke into the 12's NA, but that wasn't as important to me as doing it with the tires I drive to work on. I like to say that my car will run whatever it runs as it sits without having to change out parts or tires before a race.

If you end up going with nitrous, I HIGHLY recommend the NX Maximizer and a laptop to control it. This combo is unbelievable! You can dial in power exactly how you want it and when you want it.

I am constantly being called out to race by people at the track who have no idea of what about to happen to them, due to the fact that I run stock sized street tires. Most types of FI don't let you tailor the way the power is delivered as precisely as the Maximizer so getting away with this with other form of FI would be a little more noticeable.
