Unhappy Break-out!

Considering that this was my first race of the season, I thought that I was driving well, and dialed in 13.70 seconds. Turns out that I was driving too well and ran 13.68 seconds. Essentially beating myself by 2/100 seconds and giving the win to #1857.

The day did have one bright spot: I ran my personal best trap speed.

Sorry to hear about the loss, but great news on the personal best. I am sure you will only improve that as the year progresses. Best of luck to you.

if you were ahead of him, you should have let off the gas right at the very end, actually looking at the sheet, you couldnt have won that race. that guy you raced had a near perfect run.....

keep it up though!!!

David-that 81mph 1/8 is decent man, and you have a nice solid 2.0 60ft. Your 1/8 e.t. tells me you need to work on 1-2 and 2-3 shifts though, your capable of low 8.7 1/8's and of course lower 1/4's. Good job though, and decent trap

Sorry to sound so ignorant here.. but if you were faster down the 1/4 mile, wouldn't you win?

No.

I spotted #1857 1.25 seconds. He gets the green light 1.25 seconds before me. First to cross to finish line wins. #1857 crossed the finish line 13/100 seconds before me. He wins.

No matter because I ran faster than my dial-in (13.70 seconds vs 13.68 seconds). Its called break-out. Essentially I am eliminated because I selected a dial-in which is higher than what the car can run.

its like this.... you dial in the time you think you will run, now you have to get the closest to that time without going under it "breaking out" as soon as the lights go down you have a "reaction time" to take off, whoever has the best reaction time and gets closest to the dialed in time wins...

davidv didnt have a chance on that race.... he cut a .292 and his opponent cut a .09? light so it didnt matter what he ran, he wasnt winning...

hope this helps
