Default Drag racing gone bad

Not sure if this belongs here but at California Speedway today a GTO ate the wall. Both walls.

GTO NO GO.

Be careful out there.

He was in the far lane and started to lose is within the first 2-300 feet. Hit his wall, swerved and overcorrected and ended up hitting the close lanes wall. He missed the prelude though.

I was at the front of the staging lanes so he didn't end it too far down the track cause i could see him miss the prelude and just saw the top of his car when he came to a stop.

so this is why people race on the street - insurance will likely cover you if you crash on the street

SRT4 grenaded his engine bay today as well. Hood was mangled from the inside out.

Ya this guy in the GTO bounced off the K-rail on his left crossed lanes in front of the prelude he was running. Hit the K-rail on right with his front end, which spun him around and his tail ended up hitting the K-rail again. He had to be transported to an area hospital. Looks like he never let off the gas.

Yesterday was a bad day for racing, It was cold, and the head wind was blowing pretty good. Most people were sitting in their cars with the heaters on. No tents were up bc of they were flying away! The water in the burn out box was either blowing out or freezing. I think it warmed up to about 50degrees.

The SRT-4 blew his flywheel through his intake manifold and spilled all kinds of fluids the last few hundred feet.

There was a 240Z that dripped some stuff too!

Total down time about 2hours.

here are some pics from the day...a whole lotta SRT-4's out there!

hey rookie what were you driving??

cracked flywheel, bolts not installed correctly......I can't think of anything else that would have thrown the wheel. He wouldn't have to be moddifed....

Ahh ha! I see from your sig you were the one in the black Z? Sweet looking Z. I was in group 6 you were in group 5. I saw you moving thru the staging lanes. I was in the grey FX on drag radials (not that there are many FXs out there)

Hit me up next month, I've been running at the street legals every months since Sept.

The track was soooooo cold. The SRT4 let is go right before our group so the track cooled down. I ran that prelude that got missed by the GTO, we both had no slips so they gave us a rerun, which is why I was soo close in line to see the GTO crash.

I'm always a bit surprised when people wreck and all they have to do is drive a straight line. I guess it's a case of too much car, not enough driver. I'd hate to see that person on a road course. Someone thank that driver for keeping it on the track.
