1/4 mile times are they bs?
ok you guys gotta help me understand this!... of friend of mine told me the new altima coupe will run 1/4 mile time of 13.4 @90mph... soon as i heard that i was like wtf thats impossible... is it!?!?!.. especially when i see the new 4 door altima runs 1/4 mile of 15.0@94mph.... How the hell can the slower car trap a higher speed but a slower time.. i know time differ because of gears and wheel spin maybe but by this much?????
im confused!!!

13.4 is a lie. Maybe he meant 14.4... the fastest I've seen a stock Z run is 13.5x.

my only question is why did you even begin to beleive that rediculous statement? and then, why didn't you simply look up the car's stats online before asking this question? then where in NJ are you?
for the same 1/4 mi time, the general rule of thumb for trap speed is:
All wheel drive < Rear Wheel drive < Front wheel drive
knowing that the Z does the 1/4mi around 14.0s @ 103 MPH...a front wheel drive car doing faster 1/4 mi times will have a higher trap speed than 103 MPH.
hope that makes sense.

I had a 2002 Maxima with headers, cams etc best time it ever ran was 13.325 @ 103 this has been verified by timeslip, video etc so no BS. That was in 2005. That engine is now in my 95 Maxima with a lot of weight reduction ie 2500 lbs and last year it ran a best of 12.489 @ 109, again timeslips and numerous witnesses saw this car run many 12 sec runs.
This year I will have the variable cam timing operational (old setup was using the 95 ECU so no variable cams) as well as v-manage etc. It probably won't hit 11's but should see low 12's.
Can an Altima hit 13.4 @ 90 mph, not a hope in hell.
BTW I am a 59 year old grandfather who is a diehard drag racer and spends most of his time smiling when he continuously beats Camaro, Firebird, Corvette's and gets sick of them asking where the nitrous, turbo, S/C is.
BTW its also an auto with the EU shifting at 7k.
