My best time on my 06 z is 14.1. I ran against a f150 svt. We were pretty much even, those trucks are quick!

So 14.1 is normal for a stock 06? Everyone always asks what a stock 06 MT Z will run and everyone points to that timeslip forum but there are no stock 06's on there!

I'd say a 13.8 is about average for a 2006

Can't claim to be perfect..I've had a 2.6 60ft before... off the line sideways and again on the 1 to 2 hit.... ran 14.3 @ 103mph .. that was in my old LT1 setup though (bolt ons + ported heads) I tried to leave the line on street tires while flashing the stall. Not the best idea i've ever had.

It was also 18 degrees out (Jan 1st - "Hangover day")...

Is the biggest factor slowing down the 06 z is the weight? Or is it the loss in torque that by the time they really get rolling and pulling harder than the previous years (since the added HP) the 1/4 is over?

I'm mostly stating about those who consistently get a 2.5 or 2.6+

Its kinda like... LAY OFF THE THROTTLE SOME!

Thanks for posting the slip as I requested. Having a 2.3 60ft isn't the end of the world but definately not great by any means. I can see you spinning for a few extremely brief moments on your launch with that but fighting for traction is a stretch. Using rule of thumb (2 tenths per 1 tenth off the 60ft) you could see a high 13 (MAYBE 13.7 ~ 13.8 if you got a major hook and drove your *** off) so room for improvement is there.

FWIW the absolute BEST 60ft I could ever hope to see is a 2.0 (and that is likely to never happen)... a 2.1 60ft for me is perfect and a 2.2 / 2.3 is still getting traction. Even with a 2.6 60ft I still grab traction just takes a little while. When I hear someone say 'no traction' that means spinning on every shift PLUS a 2.5 or worse 60ft. The kind of cars that run 14.30s with 'no traction' run 12s WITH traction.

Stop running my mouth? Sure if you gave me something that makes my comment null and void. I do have 'some' experience at the track.

Do you know what the DA was?? Conditions?? That MPH is high and a 13.8 with that 60ft is a 13.5 ~ 13.6 with 2.0~2.1 60ft. Seems a bit quick for that year?? Factory freak maybe?

Sorry to be an *** but the top 25 cars listed on this site in the mid 13s is short... and the ONLY car to hit 104mph traps stock was a NEW 07 in some great weather.

Since your missing from that list I have to take your post with a grain of salt.

I am on the list....but it's the 'not stock' list because of my one mod: Front sway bar

Check the N/A mod list, I'm like #23 or something. But make no mistake, I was STOCK engine with 400 treadwear all season tires. It's verified.....

I got all kinds of comments like yours when I posted the thread with the slip, and onlookers in person actually posted. I have been told the track was good, my car may be a factory freak....ect. I road race and autox, I've only ever drag raced that one night.........

sorry to call you out like that man i just hate when people post bs flags without seeing anything. What is the mph usually when running through the 1/4 mile i didnt know it was high. The weather was about 80 degrees and the track was dry but like i said i wasnt able to go around water box so my tires were still wet im running on 19's man alot of weight. My car does seem like it runs really strong i have driven other z's before and to tell you the truth my car seemed a bit faster but maybe im just use to my z i dont know. I believe if i was running on dry tires i would have sure seen faster times but that wasnt the case. I wrote a thread to see if any other z's wanted to go to the track that night but they declined.

DOH...my apologies..you said stock so I only checked through that list.

FWIW a front sway bar removal can be a huge help in the launch.. (im sure you knew that)... MPH is still pretty high (negative DA??).. ahh well. Congrats.

Thanks, no need to apologize. You didn't really attack me, just used the deserved grain of salt that you would use with anyone.

I know about the front sway removal for a better launch....but I road race and autox, and didn't really care to do that for just one night of drag racing.

In hindsight, I should have removed it. I wouldn't have gotten all that bullSHYT about 'not being stock' with the only 'mod' being something that doesn't add power, and can hypothetically cause me to run slower. I wonder what I could have pulled with a 2.0 instead of a 2.2.

Oh well!

haha.. one thing that is annoying is the lack of description on the top 25 list... I skip the 'modded' section altogether because I thought everyone had a least intake mods. I agree the bar seems rather trivial.

Do you know how to figure DA?? I am curious to see how it was....

Let me find my original drag racing thread. Someone figured it out, IIRC. It wasn't that great.
