Default First time at the track surprising results

Well I took my Z to the track for the first time sunday just to see what I could do with it. My goal for the day was at least a 14.3 since thats wat most of the auto and some manual times are like here on the board. I had practiced launching a few times on the street to get used to it. I got some tips from dayblueZ(thanks btw) and did exactly what he said and it worked out well for me. Well heres my first race, It was against a 04-06 GTO and all he had was a ecu reflash. I did a weak burnout lol and pulled to the line. I turned my traction control off, put the car in manual mode and torqued it to 2000. I was affraid the tires would break loose if i went higher. I waited till the last yellow lit up and slowly let go of the brake while hitting the gas then went wot and to my surprise the gto was about a half to a car behind me. He eventually passed me slowly but I was closer than I thought I should have been. So got back to the tower to get my slip and the girl inside asked me if i had a helmet i'm like no I shouldnt need one unless i'm in the 13's. So she told me i had to get one from the tower before i could race again. Finally she gave me my slip and it said 13.854@100!! Of course I was happy as hell. So i got my helmet and raced 2 more times against a 3.5 altima and ran a 13.852 and an evo where i ran a 13.925. The altima redlighted but it still said he won somehow and I got out about a half car on the evo and he passed me at about half the track or so. I'm very happy with my times. I hadnt planned to take the Z to the track to much but that may change. Here are the time slips and a video. http://s5.photobucket.com/albums/y18...rent=ZRuns.flv

The evo is on the left.

The Altima is on the left.

The GTO is on the left.

nice runs. sometimes i wish i had an automatic for the drag strip for 12.30 quarter mile times. but, the 6 speed is way too much fun on the street.

Yeah AJ you def. had some nice runs!!

Bigslim; you could just start shifting as fast as Woon hahaha.. Ok well maybe don't need to shift that fast, but damn Im sure if you could like he does it'd pull down on your times!!

Thanks guys. Autos can be fun too especially when you beat a manual car with it.

oops haha i'm sure with a little more practice you'll be beating my times in no time. Manuals are alot more complicated than autos.

Anybody: Why did the Altima win?

Are Altima's (stock 3.5) just as fast as the -Z- ??

I forgot to say the altima had headers, exhaust and more. Plus he's an auto too. I've talked to him a few times at the track last year when i raced my maxima.

I would be pretty happy with those numbers my first time out. Keep up with the modding and get those times even lower.

Thanks everyone for the responses.

I was told to remove the fuse but when I searched the forum on how to remove it I found that it wasnt easy to get to so I didnt. Seemed to work well with out removing it though.
