Default Want new drag tires.. What kind for me..??

Hey fellas..

Well I have decided to get some new drag tires and am not sure as to what kind to get/ will fit on my wheel.. I currently have a set of Cobra-R wheels thanks to a member on this board which came with some Nitto 555R's.. The size of the tire is 275/40R/17.

As I am browsing through Jegs I see the MT ET Street Drags HERE OR the MT ET Drag Slicks HERE OR the MT ET Street Radial Drag Tires HERE...

I want the best setup to gain me the best times.. I am not sure what will fit on my wheels so I posted here trying to get your opinions.. Remember, I have 17" wheels.. I appreciate your input!

Thanks
K

Will you be driving to the track or trailering your Z to the track?

I always drive to the track, but have a bud with a truck carry the wheels.. Change them there along with adding 118 octane etc etc..

I use the ET Streets 26x11.5 on a 17x10 wheel. How wide is your wheel?

Well it looks like I can only go with the Mickey Thompson ET Street Drag Tire
26'' x 11.5'' - 17''LT

They also have ET Street radial 275/40/17. But I think the non-radials hook up better. Edit: If you're wearing them to the track you might be more comfortable with the radials.
Cheers.

for those wheels either run the 672-3743 Mickey Thompson ET Street Drag Tire 26'' x 11.5'' - 17''LT or the 672-3743R Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial Tire 275/40R17 R2 Compound.

I have used the regular et streets for a few years now on both my z33 and z32 and they hook up great and seem to last quite a long time. I have no experience with the radial although I hear comparable 60 foots are possible. I like the soft sidewall of the bias ply tires though as I believe it reduces shock to your drivetrain. I am guessing the radials have stiffer sidewalls, but I don't know that for sure.

I run the 26x11.5x16 on an 8.5inch wheel so you shouldn't have a problem with running 11.5's on a 9inch wheel, assuming of course you clear the fenders fine.

Thanks for the reply.. Yea that is the only thing I am worried about.. The width.. With my current setup, I have plenty of room so I think I will be ok.. I will find out soon enough tho.. Worse case, I do some fender rolling..
