Default Z vs. Cobalt SS??

Hey everyone-
On the way home from work this evening I had some assclown in a Chevy Cobalt SS wanting to give me a run on the highway. I do not street race so I laughingly declined him on the highway but offered to meet him at Gateway International Speedway tomorrow night and I would gladly take him on at the track to which he just laughed and sped off. I'd love to see this guy at the track tomorrow, I'm sure he won't show but it's got me wondering if these cars are really that fast to want to take on a Z? His car was supercharged with aftermarket exhaust and I've got a stock engine with an Injen CAI and Borla TD exhaust on my 2003 Z. What's the verdict? Thanks

Because no one would ever considering modding one (or any other car for that matter).

All bets go out the window once stock parts are changed out.

You should have no trouble ripping him a new one. Remember, even if he has some mods, unless he has damn good tires, he won't be able to launch with you (if you're worth a damn at the strip).

Well a simple stage I upgrade for a couple hundred bucks will increase the cobalt from 205hp to 236. Step up to stage II for not too much more money and you'll get 241hp. Intake and exhuast should be good for another 10hp. So stock no he wouldn't have taken you, stage I or II it would have been a toss up, if he has other bolt ons like the intake and exhuast he could very easily have a chance at walking your 350z. Now in a drag race the 350z should have the advantage simply due to it being RWD; but he was talking about a rolling start on the hwy

People rag on the 4cyl FI cars out there but you have to realize that stock they aren't far off from the 350z and secondly it takes very little money to make them faster than the 350z. Thats why I'm surprised Nissan hasn't made a 20k FI 4cyl car instead of the SE-R. While the SE-R isn't bad it can't compete with the likes of the SRT-4, cobalt SS, and WRX. Hopefully he'll show at the track and you can tell us the outcome

werd....but he should be okay since its only exhaust, which does help, but not as much as it would on turbo'd car

I DEVOURED one. Very badly to be honest.
The old boy would not even look my way at the stoplight.
I was stock, but I don't know what he was. Did not matter

my gf's brother has one, its a piece of ****. First hes had nothing but problems with it, (now he wants to trade it for a v6 accord). Then i stomped him at sliverdollar raceway (dragstrip) then latter massively raped him at autoX.

Stock 07 Z versus modified Cobalt SS, with pulley, intake, exhaust, programmer, etc.
