Also, dont take this to heart, its just a friendly competition.

Now get out there, and post some time slips.

OP:
don't bother taking of at the last yellow, that only affects ur reaction time, and that doesn't have anything to do with the rest of the run. the timer starts at a 1 foot roll out.
don't bother adjusting ur tire pressure ur first time out, it won't make a difference (both veetec and i have ur best runs on stock tire pressure, not sure about peak350). first concentrate on ur 60ft. this goes back to not paying attention to the last yellow, go when ur good and ready. u can wait a whole minute and it won't affect ur time at all (but it will **** off the track officials and every body waiting behind u).
i'm with everyone, i doubt that u'll get a 13.6 on ur first time at the track ever, but u might get lucky. i ran a 13.7 on my first time at the track with my car, second time ever (first time was on my sisters rsx, years ago, when i didn't know how to drive, and i got 2 runs in, so it may as well have been my first). but i attribute taht to luck, not skill, cause i sucked the second and third outing at the track.
also, about the burn out, don't do exactly like described on rangeracceleration.com. with our tires u just need to do it long enough just to clean off debri off the tires. they collect lots of small rocks and such cause of the vht. i typically back into the burnout box, then gently pull let out the clutch at about 4k, when i say gently i mean just slow enough not to shock the drive train and fast enought not to slip the clutch to much, then just do a rolling burn out to about 6.5-7k in 1st gear.
for the rest, u can do everything like it says on that site. i highly suggest changing out ur clutch fluid like it says on the website also. u'll wanna see it when u see how much crap u suck out of there. i never got around to getting any fancy brake fluid. so far i'm using valvoline (spelling) synthetic and its working fine. eventually i wanna get some neo synthetic brake fluid
and lastly... practice, practice, practice

I'll be happy with a 13.29 even, as long as I improve with conditions.
man, i'd be happy with a 13.3xx. but unfortunatly i have to wait till feb for the track to reopen. the last time i went was the last weekend at the track, i should prolly use this time to get my own helmet instead of barrowing from my friends.

I know you've read that we are all launching with crazy RPM's and getting good times from it, try what sounds like a slow launch. 1,500 or 2,000 RPM's
Get used to the feel of drag racing, of running through the gears hard, of lining up in thick rubber, doing the burnout, moving on the third yellow. Get used to the slip that you need to do. If you spin from 2,000 RPM's you can recover a lot easier and salvage a not so terrible time.
Once you run a decent time, feel comfortable, start bumping your launch up, 300, 400, or maybe 500 RPM increments until about 4,000. Master the launch without spin before you jump to 5,000.
I got over 80 runs in on 4 nights when I had my BMW and would regularly launch it at 5,000-6,000 RPM's without wheel spin, so I'm used to the launch, if you've never ridden your clutch for 30' or so or slipped it out to transfer weight then let it out faster you'll just spin off the line and not really learn the feel of a good run.
Also, expect a 13.8-14.0
You might fluke into a 13.6, my first night in the Z I got a 13.7, tonight I ran a 13.2 - it's probably my 9th or 10th trip to the track in the Z. I'd guess upwards of 90 runs total, and a lot of those are throwaways because I experimented with my launch/shifting RPM, shifting method, etc. a LOT before I found what worked best for me.
Good luck, I'll keep an eye on the thread to see how you do, but if you expect too much you'll get discouraged not achieving it. Practice is key.

For the original question of destroying the clutch you shouldnt have an issue there. I run 12.7@ 112mph at an altitude of 2160ft on a stock clutch with street tires my clutch has 60k miles on it and several trips to the strip and lots of launches on the street for practice and still holds up great. Good luck at the track dont be discouraged if you dont put down your expected times your first trip out. The first 3-4 times out to the track you should see dramatic improvments in your times.

ur z isn't an 07
Went to Moroso tonight and they ended up shutting everything down before it even started because of lightening and rain.
Sucks! They gave the choice to pay and go in without refund but they weren't sure if they were gonna turn anything on so I waited outside until they told us all to go home.
I have some small pics of me at my car waiting there lol, sad and depressed after driving 1hr to the strip for nothing. I'll post them tomorrow because i'm tired right now, I went to hard rock after leaving there with my woman and i'm just now getting home.
A little late with the pics but here they are, i'm the black guy and my wife is the pretty girl in the car. These were taken just outside the gate.
Did my dyno today and posted the pics on time today though.
