Anyone run high 12's (or better) without nitrous or forced induction yet? Just bolt ons. I'm thinking this should be achievable if some guys are running 13.5's stock.

Gooey ran a 12 with gears, DR's, and exhaust.

I'm looking for a set of DR's locally that I can "borrow" and see how close to a 12 I can get stock motor + DR's.

I believe it can be done. With a 1.7-1.8 60' you should be capable of hitting a 12.9 on a good day.

Also, if that Bassani exhaust I read about in the Intake & Exhaust forum really adds 12 whp and 25 whtq then that should also be enough to make the high 12's (on stock tires). I'm still wanting to see that exhaust verified on other vehicles though.

Question

How close are you to 12.99 seconds?

My best was on RE050A potenza's (stock 245 width) and in 67 degrees....in my sig.

With DR's I'm probably not going to make it, it would require a low 1.7, which I don't think I have the power to pull, but I would like to see because Gainesville is a fast track for what conditions it sees.

I don't think you'd need a low 1.7 for that. Veetec has a 13.198 with a upper-mid 1.9, and it's always been my experience that .1 in 60' is usually .15-.2 in the 1/4. So a mid 1.8 to a high 1.7 should be enough. You have the power for it if you rev high enough and let the clutch out faster. I only question if the stock drivetrain can handle the strain. My guess is that the clutch will burn if anything.

I'm not going to test it out personally. By the time I upgrade from street tires I'll have my turbo installed and be far from stock.

I've got a low 8.5 1/8th mile time. My 1/8th trap is however, 3 mph off of his. I'll never see the conditions he does though, so to run a 12 in my car at the tracks I can reasonably go to, I'm going to need a low 1.7

I've noticed every .1 off of a 60' below about 2.1 results in .1 off the ET for me. It comes directly off the 1/8th and has no bearing on my trap speeds. I'm on the verge of bogging a 5,000 RPM launch as is, its going to be DAMN hard.

Also - note my 60' and 330' times are excellent for street tires, so its not a launching issue, I just don't have the air density.

True, cars do run a little differently from car to car, track to track, and driver to driver. While your 60' on your best 1/4 is lower than his, his 1/4 is faster than yours. So I guess all I can do is wait and see how it works out for you when you finally get some drag radials on it.

I'm still impressed with this car though. Back in the days of my SS I would've never dreamed a stock N/A V6 would be pulling these times and still have the top-end that it does. I'm glad I test drove a 350Z because I never would've bought one if I hadn't.

I beat his 1/8th.

The 330' is still driver and traction. I had better track conditions than he did, he had significantly better air - more power - faster times. He back halfed a heck of a lot better than I did because of that.

68 vs 38 degrees will do that though

And you should see the Mustang guys when they saw the times. Warren and I were massive cheaters.....

Im not the best driver out there but I have hit 12's. I believe the car has a lot more in it except its lacking the driver mod as of now. Im doin my best to improve as a driver. Both straight line and around the bend. Heres a copy of the timeslip.

I notice that you have a 1.796 60'. I presume DR's. Any other mods? What RPM launch?

Pretty much whats out for the HR motors. I have AEM intakes, test pipes and exhaust, 4.083 gears, and DR's

Like I said the car is capable of more, but still lackin a great driver. I think I can represent your normal Z driver

I dont remember too much but I think I launched it somewhere around 3k-3.5k rpms

Hopefully when the tracks open I can improve with different mods.

Logging time at the strip will improve you with or without mods. That's still not a bad time for your car. With the mods you have I would estimate maybe a best time of 12.8xx (might be 12.7xx, but no better). So don't sell yourself short. It takes some skill to get a car to run within .2 seconds of it's best. Great job!!

My 07 have had at least 50-70 passes down the strip. I know it takes a lot of seat time to improve.

VeeTec ran a 13.1@105 bone stock. He's shooting for high 12s stock.
