I found that for me the best thing that worked on street tires was to rev the motor to about 2500-3krpm, and slowly let out the clutch so you don't spin or hop all the way down the track. About 3/4 throttle once clutch is all the way out, then in 2nd gear, smash it, if you break lose then reduce throttle a littel bit then lay into it again. I'm sure my way is wrong since I am also pretty new to drag racing with a car that can actually do something at the strip, and also my first manual transmission car. Hope this helps, and just have fun (if you truely own the vehicle).
I will try your technique today..
We have down here a Mazda Rx7 that Made 12.3 on street tires running on 19inch..The guyz here that make the best times are using DR..so i mostly want to lower my times b4 switching to DR ..

Tonight I will post a video of a Built Z that the guy i got the parts from on Puerto Rico made...10.03 5AT

that is true from what I know as well. Useless to heat up street tires, but you need to heat up slicks/dr's. Again, I could be wrong though, but I never heat up my street tires.

there is no need to heat up street tires, but you do need to clean them of all the debris that they pick up. the first run of the night, you should be fine without a burn out, but after one run, you get a bunch of VHT on your tires, and a bunch of little rocks stick to it. the reason for the burn out on street tires is to clear off all the little rocks and pebbles that stick to it

but then again, ranger (link from my previous post) ran an 11.1 on street tires on a bone stock z06, so i think the whole burn out thing varies from tire to tire, even with street tires... thats just my 2 cents

No I don't know him...In the video section there is a video of him making 10 sec passes down the 1/4 mile. I need to find out what tranny he is using to make 10 sec passes. You mentioned that he has a 5AT and I was wondering what he has done to the 5AT, so that he can put down those kind of times.

Is he a member on this site? If not try to get him on here.
