Default 14.1 @ 98.13 Mph

So it's my first time posting in this part of the forum, I went to Atco Raceway tonight, and ran 3 times, 2 times I won't even bother mentioning, cause it was just bad. I'll get a copy of my slip up here later, but this is only the second time I've ever been to the track, and the first time in the Z, it is such a freakin rush.

I was upset even with the 14.1 the previous owner of my Z, with fewer mods ran a 13.6 at the same track (though I'm not quite sure on the conditions), it was pretty humid out, I definitely felt like I should break into the 13's with ease, I need to learn how to launch though, I drop the clutch and I either spin to much or don't launch forward like it should, I'm gonna practice that, and hopefully soon I'll be able to attempt again. Overall it was fun, there was a power outage so that was interesting, other then that, I feel pretty good about the 14.1 but really want to be a better driver so I can bring that time down into the solid 13's.

I'm sure slicks would help you into the 13s with ease. What tires are you running?

General Exclaim UHP's, the loudest noisest tire ever, lol. My Michelin Sports were shot and it was a cheap replacement.

Not to worry. If drag racing was so easy everyone would be in the Top-25. Took me about a season to figure out how to run 13.99 seconds.

With a 2.0 60ft you should be in the 13s. Especially a fast track like Atco. When my 350z was bonestock I ran a 13.9@99.5 in cooler temps.

Ya, I agree. With a 2.0 60' you should have no problem getting into high 13's. I did it with a 2.1 60' and less mods in an 03. Conditions are very important though. Only a 98mph trap would indicate the poor conditions, or perhaps slow shifting.

If you could give us the run down of the entire slip that would be beneficial.

You should definately be in 13's. atco is a very quick track but again driver mod can kill a time.

practice quicker shifting. you should be able to pick up more than 20mph in the 2nd 1/8th. that could be related to slow shifting. also, what wheel are you running and what else did you have in the car?

2.0 seconds on street tires is commendable. The rest will come easy with practice.

Yall are lucky, down South we can't get our Z's out of the 14's. I ran two 14.30s in a row with a 2.2 60ft. I'm sure I can improve on my 60ft, but I doubt I will get in the 13's. Your MPH is lower, that probably has a lot to do with your time. I was consecutive at 99mph on all of my runs.

down south... i hit 13.7s in my 07 first time at the track with it, And since then Ive taken on some mid and low 13 sec cars... and won mind you.

Being you have an 03, i see a 14.1 as ok if it was hot and humid. but i think you should be trapping atleast 100mph.

It was hot and humid it was actually disgusting inside my helmet, I was like...bleh..., lol...but when should I shift then, do I bring it to redline, I usually go by sound, not by what RPM I'm at, am I supposed to slam it into every gear as fast as humanly possible? lol

A 2.0 60ft is awesome. my best was a 2.2 60ft, and my best time was 14.2 @100mph. I agree with the guys, practice shifting and keeping an eye on the tach helps too.

here in AZ sucks too. best i could get was 14.6 with 2.2 60ft trapped 98. thats in 90+ degree weather at night . ive tried everything too. drop clutch at 3000, 3500, 4000, pedalling. and still cant get any better then a 14.6.

I can race people with real deal low 13 sec cars and keep up and sometimes beat them but on the dragstrip I cant muster better then a 14.2 no matter how many passes I make. Although my car was about 90% stock the last time I was at the track...
