Even if somebody with the same setup had run a stock Cobra, the most important aspect of the race is different, therefore making that person's answer irrelevent to the OP's situation/question. If you dont understand this well....
I call bullsh!t on this. YOUR answer is the dumb one. I simply asked if anyone had any experience on this. you are right, all i have right now is bench data...not real experience. Obviously, we are moving towards fixing that. I'm not bench racing him, nor did I plan on it. I fully intend to run him ASAP. I've just always heard of the under-rated nature of these cars...and didn't wanna go in with wrong expectations.

according to your response, if I found out that 100 people raced a cobra with a similar setup to mine...and none of them won, then I have NO gained knowledge? Obviously your comment is the "retarded" one here...statistic ARE worth something.

Maybe not vicious, but I have seen other members banned for similar posts..... Yes, I understand there are many different things/actions that can happen during a race and not everyone will be the same. Was his question a loaded one? You bet. Hopefully he can go race the guy and find out for himself.

Lets get serious.

A V8 with a power adder is not a cakewalk. Not even for a 350Z with a power adder. Play off your buddy's self-confidence, and ask for a second. Certainly with his bad *** supercharged V8 he would spot you a second right?

Relax, take a breathe and read closely.

I have seen S/C Z's (350-400whp) run mid 13's. Trap weaksauce 105, or trap as high as 116mph. Some run LOW 12's, others would be lucky to go low 13's. I know aguy with a 360whp AUTO ATI run 12.3, doesnt mean another auto or you will.

Ive seen Cobra's run mid 13's @ mid 100's trap (palsy drivers), they have also gone low 12's stock @ 114mph+ - this is all from being at the track and reading online, fawk what the mags say.

The range is HUGE on what a certain car can do, regardless of whp or what it should run.

Other people's experiences dont mean jack in this case, because we dont have 1/4 times for you, so we dont know how good or bad you drive. Of course 95% of guys online think they are good drivers, when in reality 95% suck donkey d!ck.

One car could run 12.5 @ 111mph, the other 12.5 @ 116mph, guess who wins from a roll? See the picture yet? You wont know until you race. Anybody claiming you will definitely win or lose is simply guessing, it could go either way. I guess you lose

i'm not denying that driver makes or breaks most races. I do realize that how you handle the car makes a massive difference. I still do NOT see how asking for peoples experience against them is NOT valuable? I know 'not much' about the cobras. I know that all Ford guys claim they are the fastest on the face of the planet. I know that I've seen the dynos that don't seem to back this (although they are easily upped with mods).

Anyways, so, finding out that most s/c or turbo z's have walked on cobras would be a good indication of what might come? Am i way off here? Of course it doesn't guarantee a victory...sucky drivers can lose any race. Of course, by your logic, we shouldn't care at all what Car mags say about 0-60 times or 1/4 mile times...because there are too many factors to even care about?

EDIT: after re-reading, you do think Magazines are worthless. Ok then...fair enough. I, on the other hand, like to see what the potential of the car is. Sure, they may be stellar drivers, and I may suck. But at least I know where to fix my issues if I can. At some point, the car can become the limiting factor.

Yes to your last sentence. Most cant run mag times, yet many never have issues killing those times.

You should not care if 20 people with ATI Z's lose to a stock Cobra, that doesnt mean you will o rthat your chances are higher. Your basing your guess on other people with too many variables. Ughh...

Racing him from a dig will be harder, because you will likely win or lose the race the first 60ft. Now if you were running from a roll there are a few things you can do to take advantage of your gearing, your abilities, his abilities, and powerbands, but this isnt a street race right lol....

i'm beginning to think that the title I gave this thread is what is causing the problem. I don't want to know if I can beat him, per se. I typed it as I was questioning it myself. Moreso, I was looking for the historical data...even though, as you have pointed out...does not PROMISE a win NOR a lose. It does, however, give me a good feel for how our cars perform vs. theirs.

anyways, tips like you are hinting at in your last paragraph are things that I would be more than happy to hear about...and are the reason this thread was created (plus the fact that I'm still revelling in my new found FI).

We cant discuss those because that would be street racing

I can tell you from years of "track" experience and having beaten many cars with much more power and especially the same, its these things that make the differences at the "track".

If both of you are decent drivers and your car is capable of mid 12's, then the outcome will be a tossup, with the winner determined during the first 60'.

Terminators were seriously underrated from the factory (many dyno in upper 300's to the wheels, with massive amounts of torque).

Would be a good race to see, unless the both of you's suck.

I've beaten quite a few Cobras... Even modded ones.

Seriously, I have.

To the OP, if you have better tires and can drive decent, you should beat him at the track. Just don't do a 60MPH rolls.

If he beats you, he's lying about power or you can't drive.

I seriously doubt the OP has a car capable of anywhere near an 11.2

OP, this is what he meant to say the first time, j/k.... I'm guessing you're asking if we think your @$$ is going to be handed to you so you can decide if you'll be available for the "big race". IMO, you'll probably lose but WTF, give it a go. If he can't drive and you can you've got a shot.
