eh, you don't spend much time at that rpm

well considering that anything past 6400 rpms overspins the blower...

i just dont know if the bearings are what fails or the impeller itself explodes. Other sites seems to insinuate the impeller comes apart.

either way, hes running with zero problems, so maybe those impeller speeds dont mean much anyhow

I way overspun a roots style blower on my 03 cobra for 2 years......and the guy who bought it from me still runs the same setup I had. I think the manu's are pretty conservative.

don't roots blowers spin at like 1/2 or 1/3 as fast as centrifugal SC's though?

They do spin slower, but are subject to the same problems with overspinning (lots more tq on the bearings due to length of rotors).

No worries, You can not calculate blower rpm with pulley dia only. With a Serp Belt there will Always be some belt slip, I don't know how much, but the faster you try to spin it, and the higher the Boost, the more it will slip.

The car pulls hard all the way to 7100, but I don't seem to be making more boost. Maybe a very small amount. What does that tell you.........

Also the Max Impeller speed Rating of the Blower is just a calculated Number, and Warranty is part of it.

Anyway, 38,000 miles on the blower with 6600 RL, about 1000 miles with 7100 RL, 4 runs, and a hell of a lot of Tuning in the higher rpm range, so far so good.

NOT What does your 2003 Touring really Weigh

Please stick with the Subject, or start your Own Thread
I am not the one who said a touring z weighs 3450lbs. You should have known you're opening up a new can of worms with a ridiculously false statement like that.

Once again, good times

Don't forget they have a full cage, parachute, and the TT setup so that adds quite a bit of weight.....and thats weight with driver.

Chris what are you now 450, 475? lol JK

I had my Vortech on for little less than a year, but never took it to the track. On a stock clutch/flywheel whats the "ideal" rpm to launch to minimize spin? Sorry for the noob question.

The First Stock Block, SC-Trim Vortech 350Z in the 11's
It's a Touring 3450lb car
Why does your car weigh so much? I have a 03 Touring with nav etc and it only weighs 3360 with spare tire, jack etc and a half tank of gas...and big *** heavy 19's.
I have weighed it on a certified scale.

Very nice run!!!

EDIT..did not know there was a debate about weight..I was just curious and hadn't read all the posts.

100 octane......... still only 13 runs on the car and still has a bit more left in it, just don't want to screw up my car so I'm not pushing it 100% yet.

Have you been back to the Drags?

Thanks..........

Tim
