Default Another try at the 1/4, better but no track prep still. :(

So I had no traction in 1st gear. UGGG! My first few times were better than the rest of them. Our track is 600ft above SL. I did better than some LS1 powered cars and a 370z. The 370z stock 6mt, was only able to pull of 14.0-14.4s at 101-104s that night. I think he got one 13.9.

My best of the night for was 13.8900 at 101.79. 60ft was 9.0646.

My best MPH was 104.51

All my runs I had wheel hop and tire spin no matter what RPM I tried. I tried 2k, 3k, 4k, clutch slipping, everything and nothing worked. I tried pressures from 25-35. By the end of the evening my car was starting to get heatsoaked, and was running slower and slower. So I stopped and let it cool and ran the last run of 13.9.

My car only had K&N Drop ins, HFCs and UPREV Tune. 1/4 tank of gas. I did not remove anything from the car. Tell me what you guys think....

Here are my slips. I was car # 19.

Best ET.

I have only been twice in 2 years of having the car.

So I don't go often. If you ever go again, let me know. I like Fridays more as less bikers it seems.

do you do a burn out?

go to www.rangeracceleration.com

do everything he says, but you have to experiment with the burn out to see what your tires like. that being said, you absolutely must do at least a little 1-2 second burn out to clean the debris off your tires, especially after the first run. the vht makes your tires sticky to the touch, and they pic up a bunch of little rocks that you end up "spinning" off when you launch of you don't clean them off with a short little burnout before.

the link above is more aimed towards vette's, but the same principles can be applied to any decently powerful rwd car on street tires...

I never do a burn out on stock tires. I spin them a little bit to get the rocks off them.

Here you go. Some videos of my runs. You can hear me spin and spin with the EVO. LOL

My best time is at 13.7 at 102.85 with just Injen CAI and greddy Ti-C dual on a 08 base model on street tires. I want to get the Uprev tune soon and go to a better track... i keep my tires at 25 to 26 psi

The 14.00 second run is interesting. The car is picking up 24.6 MPH in the second 660 feet. This Z has lots of potential.

04 Enthusiast, intake, plenum spacer, test pipes, xyz pipe, and shockwave single exit. The baldest tires on earth, and the air was horrible last Friday.

You HR guys trapping 100-102 confuse me.

I trapped 104 one time. The car can do it faster, it's the driver having issues.

Dealing with $hitty to no track prep is no fun

The car pulls decent mph given the setup, but obviously has tons more potential. The driver of the 370Z must of had cerebal palsy.

All in all that isn't a horrible time... but my guess is your launch included bogging on take off? You just need a lot of practice slipping the clutch out man... I think your shifting is spot on (looks like you are gaining MPH like you should after you get moving) but you are not leaving the line clean enough.

The link posted above (Ranger Acceleration) has information that really does work. In fact that is the same method used by the 'record holders' around the country (including the HR owners on this site if I am not mistaken). It's very hard to get perfect but I ran my best time using this method on the 4th pass of the day (on a hotlap... pass just before it was a 13.2 @ 107)... I showed the fiancee what I was talking about and told her exactly what to try... on her 3rd pass at the dragstrip (ever) she pulled off a 13.1 @ 105mph in my car. (you could smell the clutch after she left the line but she pulled a 1.99 60ft )..

My car has 50~60+ passes on it slipping the clutch and I am sitting at 104,000miles on the car with the factory clutch still in it. Nothing to worry about man. You will hurt your car worse spinning and wheelhopping than you will slipping the clutch out.

That one included wheel spin and hop, no bogging. How did you find the DA? Here are a couple videos in case anyone missed them.

http://www.dragtimes.com/da-density-...calculator.php

Just look up the right track, date and time and it should do the rest. Pretty usefull tool.

My guess is you are spinning through the gear and then getting caught out of powerband when you shift to 2nd? (Does 2nd gear seem to bog?)

I don't recall the car bogging in 2nd, but I do recall not having any traction after shifting to 2nd for a bit. You can hear it in the videos above.
