+1 on having a better dedicated track set up. You should have gone for stickier rubbers, more sidewall, and less width.

Congrats on your purchase, though. I'll be waiting for time slips showing low 1.8s or high 1.7s from you.
The compound is plenty sticky for his needs, but I too would have gotten some more sidewall (and did lol). I know many run higher mph on street tires, but I always ran quicker on DR's. You should be able to go 12.9, but beyond that is going to take some major cooperation from mother nature, and some serious seat time.

I don't have any personal experience with the M/T DRs, but the other DRs I tried were not to my liking. I know it's overkill for 99% of the set ups, but if it was me, I'd always get the slicks over the DRs.

+1 on the underlined.

I know of a few cars that have run well into the 9's on 275/60/15 MT DR's.......I believe the DR record is in the very, very low 7's on an MT DR. The tire is EXTREMELY sticky.

Nice, so it's pretty much slicks that are in DR form. I still like slicks better.

Pretty much. I'd imagine the compound of the rubber is very similar (slightly harder perhaps). I know the treadwear on the MT's is 0............lol.

my bad, it was 12ft. above sea level. . . http://www.noproblemraceway.com/track_facts.htm#drag

I'm sure it will take a good bit to break 12.9 as ya'll stated with the barely there setup that i have on my 07 but i'm in for the long haul till i do. . .

I was originally gonna go for a larger sidewall/slick but they didn't have much of a selection for 18's that would actually fit a 9.5 rim and i don't have the money right now to get any extra rims. . .by the time i burn through these tires i should have money saved for one rim at a time. . .lol. . .

Do you have brembos? If not, I would look on mustang forum for a set of 15" welds. Great deals can be had on those forums and they have the same bolt-pattern and generally run offsets that will work fine for our cars. I wouldn't go any taller on the 18's.....you quickly lose the benefit of the high FD gear ratio. Those tires should have plenty of traction. Keep in mind the MT's like some heat and I always found for me that 14-16psi worked best. Just start at ~22 and work your way down until you find the sweet spot. Word of caution; Once mine got down to 10psi the wheel would spin inside the tire......found that out after the temp dropped 30 degrees and I got stuck in line for 2 hours......went from 14 to 9psi. Too bad I just sold my 15's with 275/50's. They would have worked great for you.

Good luck

I prefer 15's.....and yes they would clear your brakes. However, the 60 sidewall would have been to much tire for you. That's my .02. The tires coach put up are 5% taller than stock 18's..............your 18" MT's are 1.3% shorter.

If your clutch is up to the task you could see 1.6s if you're good at launching the car which it seems like you are if you got a 1.8 out of Nitto Invos.

Possible perhaps, but very, very unlikely. Lack of power and IRS will make it an almost impossible task. He should very happy with a high 1.7. He will gain another .1-.15 with better traction going into 2nd and 3rd as well. Car should be ~.3 quicker w/o much of an issue.

You may be right, might not be possible without a grippier clutch, but with one he could really tach it up and let it go on those tires. BriGuyMax was cutting 1.7s spinning on 18" BFG Drag Radials, and we all know that MT DRs are quite a bit stickier than BFG DRs are.

Amen on 2nd and 3rd gear shift traction, 2nd and 3rd gear difference was the biggest difference for me even on my relatively un-sticky Nitto 555R drag radials.

So these are 1.3% smaller in diameter than stock, will these tires cause any issues and trip the "slip" light? I know you are supposed to be within 3-4% of the front tires so I'm assuming they are ok. I currently have an 03' Touring with stock rims and stock size front tires 225/45/18s in the front.

Secondly, the next step up in these tires in an 18" size is a 305 so those would never fit on my stock rims, will these hook up well enough with my setup? This question is mostly directed towards Tylerxfire as he is supercharged also and cutting 1.7s on ET streets but I'm not sure of what size he is running. I'm also planning on setting my rear camber to zero to try an eliminate the wheel hop I currently have with street tires and to hook up better.

i am pulling low to mid 1.6's and I run MT ET streets 3743 tires on flix ftd wheels...they are 26x11.50-17 ....i run my normal 19's on the front, i wouldnt worry about wheel hop as u wont spin these tires if u have them, i have crazy wheel hop with street tires on if i hammer it and no wheel hop or traction issues whatsoever with the MT's

I beleive my MT's are on a 8 inch rim but im not 100% on that id have to check
