350z drag race question

350z drag race question
I am new to owning a nissan 350z. I have an 05 with very minor mods. I went to a drag strip this weekend and was somewhat disappointed with the cars performance / mine too!!
The car is a 6 speed, and I cannot do a burnout for the life of me...does anyone have any suggestions or tricks to it?
The other thing is that when I take off, the rear end like hops trying to get traction, I have the traction control turned off, I have goodyear eagle f1's
My best was a 15.59....not good
What are any of you guys running and what mods do you have? I would like to turn the car into something that runs close to a 10 - 11's.
Like I said I'm new to owning the car....it is embarrassing not knowing how to do a burnout!!

He is getting 12.5 with his RSX with this mod list:

Since you have a 350z... you'll easily get into the 9's.

Check your rear diff bushing. Z's have wheel hop issues when new, but if the fluid-filled bushing on the rear of the differential goes, it gets really bad.
If you see any gray streaks that look like dried fluid, it's probably fluid from the blown bushing.
You could just be trying too hard. Try some lower rpm launches (3k-ish) without "dumping" the clutch. Just let it out quickly with minimal slip and feed in throttle as the clutch grabs.

My bad OP I hit the edit button instead of quote...........I fail.......second time I have done that.....
I am feeling generous today............
It's hot.....you car will never run as well as it will in the late fall/early spring. Just a fact. To do a true burnout in our cars you must remove the stop lamp fuse in the driver side kick panel. You do NOT need to remove this on street tires. Just give them a spin to get rid of the water/debris. Heating up street tires is not a good idea........they only handle a certain amount of heat before they become greasy......even the best of the best extreme summer tires. Those tires, while able to handle more heat and with the stickier compound, are not really suited to drag racing either.......the sidewalls are to stiff.
If you are running a 15.59 right now.........you have a long way to go before you should think about 10/11's. Improve the driver........then the car.

So, you're running close to 16 seconds in the quarter mile and you want to be running 10s? Your lack of experience on the track (and with the car) is painfully obvious and to be concerned with running faster times when you lack any skill is absurd.
You need to work on how to launch your car, shift faster, etc and master those things first. Once you can CONSISTENTLY hit mid-high 13s lightly modded or high13/low14s stock, then you can worry about making your car faster.
Please search around this drag sub-forum and read everything that you can. The more you read, the more you will learn and will be able to incorporate what you've read at the drag strip. Almost everything you will come up with has been discussed in this section at one point or another -- trust me.
Check out the top 25 drag racers list for ideas, methods, modifications, time slips, etc. If I were you, I'd listen to the guys at the top of those lists, rather than whoever chooses to answer you in your thread (if that wasn't obvious enough in this thread ).

You could benefit from a header. You could also get some smaller wheels like 14s. My buddy did that with his supra making like 1000hp and some federal all season tires and ran a mid 7 @ 190 with a 9.3 60ft. Very fast.
