Default Tips for Tomarrow: First time at track with z.

Well, as the subject says, tomarrow is my first track day with the z. I am nervous none the less, but truly I am out to prove a few people wrong. Noone believes me that the z can put down high 13s stock. And after keeping up with my friends 2000 z28 I am very confident that I could break into the 13s or have some low 14s times. Want to see how close I was to my friends z28? http://members.***.net/~conceyted/20...s 2004350z.wmv

So, give me pointers guys. I am going to be dropping my tire pressure to around 25ish psi. And of corse launching around 2,000 rpms. Shiftpoints as far as I know so far, will be right past redline right before rev limiter. Anything else i should do?

Don't judge your times by what you can keep up with on the street.....it just doesn't work that way. You will end up very dissapointed doing that.

Not sure if your friend has run at the track or not but by listening to a video i have of my car doing about 30-70 and listening to his 20-80 whatever run i'd say its a high 13 second car.......might try working those shifts a little quicker as well.

Good luck at the track. Just from watching your vid try shifting faster....your giving up a lot of time on your shifts. Just use the general logic that if your front end drops during your shift its too slow.

Good luck

Tips......
Go AROUND the water if possible....spin your tires good to get them dry. Not much point in burning the crap out of your street tires.
Feather the clutch the best you can on launch to minimize wheelspin......and shift like a possessed man
Good luck dude.
