Default Predict my 1/4 mile time!

Just to help me have an idea of what would be a half decent run.

I have trackday/road corse experience but no drag racing.

My cars a 2003 Z33 350z, Built APS TT running 470WHP 448RWTQ. I have a 6 MT trans with a JWT clutch and fly. 275/40/18 street tires on the rear.

Im thinking somewhere in the 12's with a trap speed about 115-120mph?? Any ideas guys as It will be my first time at the strip next sunday and I would love a good goal to aim for?

I thought that the 450hp range would put our cars into the high 11s with low 120 trap speeds. Of course that is assuming you get it to run a decent 60ft time. But I'm by no means an expert. That is just what I have heard from talking to other Z guys.

It totally depends on how good your tires are and how good of a driver you are. You could run a high-11, but more likely a mid-high 12.

Good luck hooking on the track with a street tire putting out 450+ HP... best advice, slip the clutch on green and run the **** out of it... get the hang of it the more you run..also you can drop the psi on tires...good luck man... update us after the track!

No joke. And flat out, it'll do 265. I take out Veyrons all the time in my home town.

First time at the strip... deduction
Street tires... deduction
No LSD... deduction
No supporting suspension mods... deduction
driver has no experience launching... serious deduction
driver has no experience drag shifting a MT... serious deduction

My calculation is one of two things will happen:

1) 14's
2) OP hits the wall

J/K... good luck OP! Let us know how it goes!

LOL... at some of the comments!

First time at the strip... deduction (agreed)
Street tires... deduction (agreed)
No LSD... deduction (stock VLSD so not too bad! lol)
No supporting suspension mods... deduction (I have KW V3 coilovers)
driver has no experience launching... serious deduction (Only on the road but never at the strip)
driver has no experience drag shifting a MT... serious deduction (Im not a new driver! lol..Drag shifting/power shifting is just asking for a gearbox failure!)

My calculation is one of two things will happen:

1) 14's (may be! lol)
2) OP hits the wall (Not gonna happen! lol)

J/K... good luck OP! Let us know how it goes!

What sort of tire pressure would you run? 35psi cold stock may be drop to 30psi ??

My tires are OK, in the cold they spin hard in 3rd but if its warm out then 2nd will hook OK.

Thanks guys.

Glad you have a good sense of humor. I'm just a big smart a$$, but I mean no harm in it. I'm definitely in for the results. If I was out there, I'd have the same things going against me, but I'm also on heavy 19s, in a heavy roadster, about to be bottle fed, and can't drive worth crap. I'd be hoping for 15's and not to kill myself in the process my first time out.

Good luck, man!

Start at 28 psi and go down about 2psi each run and see what suits you best. Good luck and have fun!

*edit* Don't go lower than 20psi.

this is stupid..no way to predict this ...so many variable play into getting a car down the quarter properly....if this is ur first time and u are running street tires..i say u will just break 12s and run 118mph best

LOL... A little part of me died when I saw the video of you breaking 3rd gear! lol.. I dont think I could do that to my car for the sake of a few 10th's less on the 1/4. haha...

And Tyler you prob right mate. Ill be happy to be in the 12's and high teens trap speed as its my first time and WILL NOT ABUSE my car!lol..

Im thinking a nice soft launch for 2.5-3K RPM and steady smooth shifts.

Fawk my 3rd gear, thats how I race. $hit breaks when you push the limit, and if Im not pushing Id rather not race.

Good luck your first time, be happy if you hit 12's

i run around 21- 23 psi in the rear tires. I also cut 1.81 60 ft on re-11's with all stock suspension, so somethings working right.

No doubt you can drive, but its much easier to launch 300whp compared to what this guy is making. You have a great combination of ability, traction and those gears
