For a long time I had a problem power shifting into second. People thought I was missing that gear. Since I never miss gears I had it checked at a friendly dealer who got me a new trans. under the 5yr. 60k warranty. All paid by Nissan. No more problems
Damn you power shift into 2nd? lol I dont even power shift 3rd and 4th . although I just tried powershifting 2nd on my breakfast run at work and it felt great def gonna practice that a bit more. Cooler weather is on its way so im getting ready . Thanks for the info on the Tuner I've had the Tuner cable from uprev for about 2 years now just scared to mess with it lol

Power shift second? I don't know any other way to race Seriously, with practice everybody can do it. I have a video here on top 25 times, somewhere past page 110 to 125? or you can search andre12031948 on you tube. It's called "in a blink of an eye". You need to practice till you can shift as fast as a blink of an eye, or close to it As long as you have an engine cut off, there is nothing to be afraid off.

Hey Andre, this is Dan, i had the Silver Nismo that ran with you in the finals. that was definitely a great day, beautiful weather and i felt that the track was pretty well preped. i know you ran very consistent all day, me however not so much, hahaha!! My best time was in the semi's, 13.2 @ 104, i wish i could have ran that in the finals against you, def would have been a better race.

i def gotta give props where props are due, your Z is fast and consistent, def. keep up the good work on it. i def hope to see you around and line up with you again, as im hoping for 12's soon, so i can give you a better race, lol!!. a few more mods, and some tweeks to my tune should get me there.

im definiely looking into picking up a set of full slicks, with some skinnies, instead of my stock Rays 18s upfront and my the DR's i had on the back. that will definitly help me get a good hole shot. ive watched the video of our race, and you left HARD bro. it was pretty BA, lol!!

anyway, if you plan on hitting up atco again, shoot me a PM, and ill do the same if i head up to E-Town, we can try to line up again for a rematch, lol!!

Thanks Ray.
I had a great time in Florida, but I don't think I'll make that trip this year. It's getting harder to take that long drive. This fall & early spring I'll try going to the track. I want to see what I can do in the cool weather.
I'm sending you a PM.

Sorry if I was blabbering. It was after almost 12 hours at the track & I was tired.
It worked out good that in the final I ran the # 2 qualifier. Losing traction would be #1 reason for not being consistent. Ye, getting slicks & skinnies would solve that, get you better 60' times & of course 1/4 mile times. Like I said that day, never mix radials with ply tires like slicks. Also be sure that the wheels/tires fit over/clear your brakes. I brought the wrong front wheels last time I went to Florida. Had to stay with my wide radials in the front. I personaly experienced how scary those runs were. Of course I never lifted my foot off the gas pedal Also(very important)don't get too much slick. Too big, too wide can make you bog(sp?) &, or mess up gear ratio.
My suggestion would be not bigger than 26" diameter, not wider than 9"/10" inches. Looking forward to seeing you in the next lane

I've been mixing bias plies on the rear with 20" boat anchors on the front. Obviously not ideal but with good alignment and steady hands it's been working for me. If anyone can tell me what 'skinny' setup will fit over a front brembo I'm game. Does the stock donut even fit?

the stock dounut should fit over the front brembos...i would think so anyway, it wouldnt make sense if it didnt, lol!! Im thinking that i may buy another dounut (or as andre has suggested at the track that day, perhaps 2 from a 370z) and wrap them with a 185/45 r17 (i think that was the size that i calculated). i'll pick up drag skinnies, if i end up getting full slicks for the back, but if i stick with the DR's, ill just go with a street tire. <--thanks again Andre for warning me about the mixing of radial/ply tires

You're very welcome.

If you get 2 spares from 370z sport pkg. model, you won't need tires.
My friend Jayson from Florida holds the 370z 1/4 record of 12.2 using that set up with good street radials in the rear.

Make sure they fit before you spend the money

Just make sure you put the spares on AFTER you pass tech inspection!

And the 370Z spares also clear stoptech BBK (not sure which version). I let a friend borrow my spare to test fit on his 350Z.

i have an 07 and my 2nd gear grinds when i powershift into second. it also grinds when i go from neutral to 6th at high speeds or from lower gears to 6th at high speeds. oddly so.

at any rate, i find that it's a lot harder to shift quickly with my car as opposed to many of the work cars i drive. e.g. 911's, M3's, etc. that's after changing the tranny fluid a few times with no results.

For a long time I had big problems with shifting into 2nd. Was lucky enough to get a new trans. while still under warrenty. Sorry, but you might need a new trans.

Can't read the small print but it looks like its big time. Looks like 12.5 index is the slowest class. I should be doing 12.5 by Nov. Got to find more details. 50% I'm there

Domestic guys know how to drive. I'd love to go against them. Imagine if a Z beats them all (only in 12.5 index of course).

FU[K!!!! I'm on the same boat as duckeee, going into 5th or 6th from neutral at highway speeds grinds , no other gear does. Screw it I'll run this tranny till it ***** its biscuits. Then get another. Local shop which I trust wants to rebuild my trans for 900 , so my question is would it be smarter to do that since it'll be tougher than stock or get another stock one and risk the same issue down the road.

All you need is 4 gears to drag race

Lol litterally what I've been telling myself. Race 1-4 . Daily driving just make sure to ease into 5th and I'm good to go haha. I'm just worried that its my trans causing the 2nd gear lock out I've been having which by the way I think may be gone , I'll find out for sure next track night which will be very soon .

new trans... im afraid of that. it is a hit or miss really. at high rpms first gear into second it's definitely harder to shift into second than say high rpms in second to third. it sucks hardcore.

hence why i'm afraid when i go to the track either ill grind second a lot or miss-shift altogether.
