Default Street tire PB 12.777@110.65

We had great weather conditions today at Cecil County Dragway in Maryland. Myself and many others ran their best times and traps today. The Z was running strong today and was maintaining traction consistently, which was something I have constant trouble with.

I finally got that elllusive 12 second pass on street tires. And did so many, many times today.

Mods have not changed at all, except more dirt and miles
Stock intakes, new OEM clutch 5k miles ago
Fast Intention resonated test pipes and dual exhaust
Uprev dyno tune at RT Tuning in Lansdale, PA
4.08 gears and factory VLSD
Old Bridgestone RE-01R rear tires

Third pass of the day netted a 12.99 and after a couple more attempts:

12.777 @ 110.65 And a new high trap of 111.13

My brothers hybrid turbo FC ran a 11.86 with a new high trap of 119

I put on my brother's MT slicks and after a few passes, a loud BOOM happened. I was finally inducted into the tow of shame. Drivers side axle broke. Second time for this part....the worst part is my 5year-60k powertrain warranty just expired yesterday, 11-22-13!!! I can't believe my luck, or lack thereof!

I do have some better times on slicks but nothing worthy of a record, so I'll keep them to myself for now.

Cool pic from the drive home while driving 70 mph.

Sweet! Not surprised, it was cold with a little butt wind to help out.

Damn. That's a good time. Throw some slicks on and you'll be mid 12s.

Yep, already did that yesterday and the previous track day. Yesterday, I only did 3 runs on slicks before I broke. The first 2 runs had 14 psi in the slicks and 40 psi in my front streets which caused so much sway, I almost lost control and crashed. Upped the pressure to 18 which fixed the sway, but not my confidence and then the axle went before I got a good pass. I was even preloading the driveline to prevent such breakage.

I did run a 12.68 the first time on slicks but did not post that slip. My newly installed OEM clutch was slipping and did not like the extra traction from the slicks.

BTW, it will get faster with miles. My stock Z got up to 109.03 mph right before I got rid of her, and she was closing in on 80K+ miles. When she was green she was trapping 107.

Congrats man, I know you have been chasing 12's for a while, car is running strong, and damn your brothers car has come a long way since the last time I saw it. Sucks about the broken axle, but it's the way it goes sometimes.

I am really hoping to make it out to cecil before they close, but it's not looking good, I am hoping to get my 11 second pass on street tires ha.

These tires have a very stiff sidewall which is usually not good for drag. My best ever 60' has been around a 1.95 which can be beaten by many other street tires. I have heard these tires are good for road racing.

Thanks man. I thought you were at Cecil on Saturday but it was another red Vette. I just ordered an Autozone Duralast reman axle so I will hopefully install that on thanksgiving and be running soon.

My brother has done some amazing work on his RX7. All rebuilds, porting, and tuning was done by him and I in the driveway. And now he runs 11s.

Launch has room for improvement
Around 4000 or a little higher
With my left foot?
30 psi in rears

I just counted all my time slips to date with this car. 238 and counting!!! I'm surprised all I wore out so far was the clutch and 2 axles. Well my trans is grinding a lot going into fifth gear now...

Thanks for the compliments guys!
