Disabling ABS on Enthusiast Preferably by Switch
Ive searched and searched and searched on this for a few days and everyone that posts a solution for it has a VDC equipped Z. Basically what I am wanting to do is to disable abs for track days by just using a switch. I used to just pull the brake fuse (drivers side kick panel) because I would only be running single runs so it wasn't much of a big deal, but now that I will be running some tandem I have to have brake lights. Also before anyone says the whole "blah blah blah you must have abs it helps you blah blah blah" out of my seven cars I have owned this is the first to have it, and am more than capable of handling it without ABS. So does anyone have a solution? Switch or no switch doesn't really matter because I will be installing a hydro this winter and the switch is just a bonus.

Some have killed the sensors for it or kill the control box (which is what I've done)that houses the abs function.
This is me just thinking out loud, you can in theory I think as I never seen someone post about it and I'm no electrician.
Pull the fuse like you've done before and re wire the brake switch to another circuit. So that when you smash the brakes the lights still have power because of a separate closed circuit.
Any electricians can verify what the **** I'm thinking to be possible or not?

My guess is that it is possible to install a switch to turn your ABS on&off.
In fact,its a feature on a few supercars.The ones I've seen have this red/danger
cover mounted on the console with the switch recessed inside.I was told this
setup was borrowed from a aircraft missle launching system.
Oh boy!
Find yourself a geek thats familiar with wiring schematics.
With the systems in today's cars, everything is connected
to something else.I sure would not have the expertise
to tackle this.PRESS THE SWITCH,ABS OFF,WIPERS COME ON!
I'd think a red "danger" switch mounted in a area near or around the shifter
wood look neat.At least you'll get some conversation going.

I have done this on a base model. the basics steps:
1: Underneath the fuse box next to the battery cut the two wires leading to the EBS and ABS fuses. they are next to the ignition fuse. You want to look at the fuse. One side (the hot side) they are all connected then they go through the fuses and are separated. You want to cut the separated side.
2: Run the wire, there is a nice gourmet you can poke through that is behind the battery going vertical into the very front passenger side under the dashboard. From there mount the switch where ever you want. I put mine in the center cubby. You can run 4 wires or T the 2 ends together and run a thicker 2 wire setup. I used a 30 amp switch from O’riellys with a fancy LED.
3: connect everything, the basic Idea is that you are installing a switch right where you cut the wires and all the extra wire is just to relocate the switch. I suggest using wire crimps.
Notes: You can turn off the ABS/EBS at anytime but to turn it on you have to enable the switch and turn the car off and back on. When you switch off the ABS/EBS your BRAKE and ABS lights will be lit all the time until you switch back on. Everything else (speedo and whatnots) will work with it switched off.
Now it’s been a couple years since I did this so use it as a basic guide and get yourself a multimeter to make sure you are doing everything correctly. Good Luck.

When you say hot side. Do you mean that they will be hot with the key off? And if possible do you have any pictures of where you cut and spliced at the smaller fuse box? Also what is EBS? Shouldn't I just do that to the ABS fuse.

I believe they should not be powered when the ignition is off, could be wrong though. By hot side I am referring the side the power comes from. If you take out the fuse(s) and turn on the ignition the hot side will have ~12v on it and the other (the ones you want to cut) will have ~0V.
Sorry no pics. EBS (Electronic Brake System) will try and straighten the car out when you slam on the brakes. Which is awesome for retarded people who can't drive. But when you’re coming in hot on a corner and you go to brake drift to bring it in and the car straightens you out into a wall that’s no bueno.
Also if you just want to semi-permanently disable it you can just pop the plastic cover to the fuse and cut the fuse(s) for those. Then it’s like $15 to put back to stock if you ever want to sell it. Plus everyone I installed switches for plays with it for the first week then they just leave it off the rest of the time.
