Default Used Parts From US

I bought some used Cusco front camber arms off a guy in the states about 2 months ago for $260 shipped. I just recieved an invoice from UPS for $72 for duty charges!! That seems freaking absurd!! Does this make sense?

Yup, $40 for brokerage and the rest is tax on the declared value.

So what's stopping you guys from crossing the boarder and buying parts here? If it's cheaper here why don't everybody get a list together and make a road trip? I remember when I crossed back and forth from Niagara nobody checked anything and I didn't pay a duty coming back.

I used to live in Windsor, crossing to Canada was a breeze. One time the customs officer didn't look up at me even once. I could have had an AK-47 pointed at her head for all she knew. It's all in who you get, some of them are on real power trips though and will do all they can to ruin your day. I wouldn't want to get caught trying to sneak stuff across the border, it isn't worth it, I always declare and 90% of the time they wave me thru.

I will never buy tires (pricey ones) in Canada again though, way cheaper in the states. Unless you make a stupid amouint of money, its' well worth the drive if you live fairly close.

If you declare the parts under $100, there is no duty. Also helps sometimes if you get it shipped as a gift with no invoice on the outside of the box.
