Default Anyone of you have a custom sunroof?

Just did a search on sunroofs and noticed a few people have got it don’t on their Z, personally I love sunroofs had it on my 240sx and cant seem to get over the fact that when I buy my Z I wont have a sunroof.

Something has to be done about that.... there’s nothing better than cruising in the sun, windows down and sunroof open.

so just wondering if any of you have it done?

How tall are you? I'm just barely fitting in, and my helmet touches the roof quite firmly when I wear it, so that's one possibility. My guesses, and I could be totally wrong, is that Nissan didn't include them because they tend to weaken chassis rigidity a little, add weight (on an already heavy car) and the roof is kinda curvy which would make a funny looking sunroof. Fortunately this is a solution from the factory... a roadster!

Hate the look of the roadster, like a handicapped Z, would have much rather have them Targa.

Yes the Z does have a curvy roof, but the aftermarket guys seem to work around that. some of the pics I’ve seen don’t look half bad, as for rigidity, ehh my Z isn’t a track car, its an everyday enjoyable car, with the occasional track day, A sunroof wont hurt.

Cause you mentioned it and I have yet to search that topic, how much does a Z weigh? say Basic.

Here are some pics, I don’t mind the look, its a little pushed back but does the trick.

I'm not a fan of the way the glass sticks out when opened, I think I would rather have one of those glass ones that just comes off and leaves a hole.

haha, i'm pretty sure our roofs are too tiny to not have the glass stick out.

sunroofs are nice to have, but not a priority on my list.

and don't hate on the roadster...it's HOT if modded right, and the top is down haha.

"it's HOT if modded right" hehe I like that one... So not only is the roadster more expensive than the coupe but then we have to spend more on top of that just to make it look right lol (that roadster in the pic does look sexy, nice pic)

I agree the roof is too small to have a sunroof slide down and into the roof, I dont need that, But I think it looks funny over hanging like that, thats why I mentioned a removable glass sunroof, like in the 240sx hatch.

Is your friend on the forum? maybe he can chime in with a few details and some pics.

I put this in the local section cause I was hoping to get some info where to get it done around the GTO region.

I agree, with the roof up the roadsters just don't look right.

Depends on the year and model, but around 3200 lbs for the 03-05 coupe (3400 for 06 and later), 3400 (and 3600 respectively) for the roadster. It's a wee bit hefty, thank god for a grunty V6.

His name is Vince and the name i gave above is his screen name here.

He tends to look at the SoCal section mostly so you cna post there but I would suggest sending him a PM.

He is very knowledgeable on the Z and a lot of its electronic parts and he also knows the company that made the sunroof. I think he would be ideal to contact in this particular situation.
