Cross border shopping - beware
with the C$ doing so well there are a lot of US cars being imported into Canada by no-name dealers.
I bought a 2006 IS250 from H Gregoire in St Eustache near Montreal.
They told me that the car had never been accidented. Well it had.
Lexus Canada voided the Lexus warrenty on the basis of a local Lexus dealer's inspection.
I asked for a refund at H Gregoire - they refused saying that the car had not been accidented.
Despite their own "specialist" giving the a report which clearly says "accidented - repaired"
H Gregoire then renegged on an offer to exchange the car for something equivelent after I said that I would agree only if the exchange car was inspected independantly first.
I then asked H Gregoire to replace the steering rack and a wheel bearing under the 3 month warrenty that they had sold me. They refused, telling me that my warrenty was void because the car had been in an accident!
IMO these people are liars and theives.
If you're buying a used US import beware!

unfortunately the Carfax report on the Lexus came back clean ....
The Lexus dealer in NY who crashed the car never reported the accident or claimed insurance for the damage ... therefore no history
what do I think Carfax and the like are worth?
