Rubber on stk oem 18's for track use

Are any fellow Canadians running 275wide rubber on stk 18" OEM rims?
I maybe able to swap my OEM 17'' rims and tires for some OEM 18" 2004 RIMs and was thinking about putting rubber on them for track use.
Falken AZENIS RT-615
245/40/18 front
Rears 255's or if they will be ok 275/40/18's on the rear.
I did search other forums and some guys say they are running 275's but will they hold up at the track?
Thoughts?

I'd reccomend picking up a set of A-Tech (MB Motorsports) wheels. They run approx $120 US each and come in 17X9 with a +27 offset (I think). These will clear your Stoptech as I used to run that exact configuration. 275/40/17 on all 4 corners worked great on the track.

Should be able to find some on the classifieds here, heck I sold my set here a while back
www.discounttiredirect.com has them new and they also have a decent price on the RT-615's if that is what you are planning on running. The A-techs are sold under the "MB Motorsport" label. Here's an example:http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...w=7&bp=5-114.3
Offset is wrong but give them a call. The +27 did clear my Stoptech kit with plent of room to spare.

Here is a pic of the stk 18 RIMs over the stoptechs They clear the caliper by about 1/4 inch
I have a dumb question though. The stock RIM's did not seam to fit flush against the rotors like the Volks do. The wheel seams to fit against the hub but not clear it. Is this normal? I attached a pic best I could and you can see the wheel bolt between the wheel and rotor.
I tried fitting my stk 17's and there was no way they would clear the Calipers and mount on the wheel studs. I find it hard to beleive 17"'s would work.

Thats with all the nuts on and fairly tight. I think this is how my orrigional 17's fit but it was so long ago I can't remember.

hey smasher, your rim is not sitting on your hub centric ring at all if u tell me your wheel nuts are tighten up already...
i would recomm you to get a wheel spacer (see something similar for the H&R track spacer) they are bolt-on kit without replacing your wheel studs. and if u have to shave off the hub centric., please do so b4 you put on the 18stk wheels. i remember i had to do some alter to the rear stoptech rotors b4 i put on my z. its better to space out your 18stk wheel anyway on the track

I will take a pic of the hub without the rim later this wekend. It seams odd that the stock wheels would not fit properly. I will check the rears out as well.

So it looks like I won't be able to use Nissan stock 18 RIMs over my stoptechs
There is lip around the center hub from the 2 pc rotor that makes the hub about 1/4 inch too big. The Volks fit fine they have a 2 7/8 opening and thats about the same size as the stoptechs rotor lip around the hub.
Guess I would need to buy new RIMs and tires for the track now when I was hoping to trade my 17's for 18's and then just get new rubber. UHG!

Dave, are you sure that's not the hub adapter off your TE's? it doesn't look like it's attached to your rotors....have you tried prying it off your rotors?

very few 17"s will fit with large calipers. i use spacers to get mine to clear my brembos

So you think I should have one more go at this and try to pry that off?
it wouldn't hurt. The more i see it the more it reminds of the hub ring I got from my winnings. It flares out abit at the base just like yours. You should probably use some WD40/used oil to slick it up and try to pry it off with a small flathead screw driver or something.
