it's not easy to free up power in the z unless you go FI. most na mods will give you minimal power gains and will be mostly a placebo effect (it will sound faster).

that's the thing, i don't want to go FI. There's gotta be some decent gains when you do AI, exhaust, pulley or flywheel, etc.
someone out there must have a pulley or flywheel in addition to their mods and have some good results... let me know

Don't do crank pulley. Flywheel, other pulleys is fine, but I would seriously advise against using an aftermarket crank pulley. The factory ones have harmonic ballancers for a reason.

Rich his right, is very hard to squeese more juice out of the Z with basic bolt on mods unless you go FI.

I dont see how a one piece, light weight crank pulley would damage his engine/crankshaft while in NA form.. If he were FI, I would advise against it..

OP,
From my experience a Lightweight Flywheel (my case it was Clutchmasters 10.5 lbs) drastically improves throttle response for obvious reasons. (weight reduction from your drivetrains rotating mass) But with regard to gaining power, I doubt you will see any gains on a dyno.

I also ran the AMS one-piece, balanced, lightweight pullies. When combined with my flywheel, the z rev'd so fast it was night and day from OEM form. But it came so at a cost. Creaking noises from the engine bay were very noticeable and at times quite annoying.

Again, more weight reduction, but I highly doubt it produced any real world gains...

As goneinsixtyseconds mentioned, most will be placebo effect.. (trust us, we both have first hand experience on a dyno with my z..)

And as Mapleleaf mentioned, if you are running a DE engine. The best mods will be Plenum + exhaust and probably a reflash or tune.

That said.. I would highly recommend you start searching on various NA builds with the DE engine.

*fyi, full bolt on's I/H/E, will only net you (maybe) 265whp*

I have the UR crank pulley since I got the car, I have 68k miles now, no problems at all. I love the UR crank pulley, which I can install myself.. and it does make a different on reving the engine.

You can reflash the ecu, I think technosqure does that. Not sure how much now, but I would recommend you get all the bolt-on's first, then tell them what you have, so they can reflash accordingly.

The only problem I had with the UR Pulleys when I went to FI I had to go back to the OEM pulley and the son of bi..h welded it self to the Crank.. when the shop phoned up and said you might want to start shopping for a new crank if we can't get this off ..... they had to get a Machine shop in to get the thing off.

You really should search on this topic.
Technosquare
AAM
^Both shops offer reflashes. If I were in your shoes and wanted a reflash, I would go with Technosquare. Note that you would need to remove your ECU and send it out by mail to either shop.

Or you can get a piggy back
-Emanage Ultimate/Blue
-Utec
and have it tuned by a shop like http://www.advancepowerhouse.com/
Ask for Edward or Brian.

I will again recommend that you search on this topic so that you can make an informed decision.

Good Luck!

I know that quite a few people run them, and that they're fine for the most part, but no engine is perfectly balanced from the factory, and the harmonic ballancer DOES help. I firmly believe that you're putting more stress on your engine by removing it. Whether this stress will prove to be detrimental over the time period that you own the car, that I can't say.

better way would be to get a piggy back but its going to cost more. the flash isnt to accurate just going on what mods u have and u have to mail them your ecu could take 1-2 weeks. i called technosquare a couple months ago looking into this, i think its something like 500 bucks plus the lady on the phone was saying they make you pay duties when it comes back which is bs. but from what ive seen you can get a pretty cheap greddy emanage off the forums here used then a tune here without losing ur car for more then a day. but that tune will be around 500 as well. honestly ive done most of the common n/a bolt ons and u notice tiny gains. my car defenetly sounds faster then it actually goes lol.
best bet is GO F/I!

i actually think it wouldnt even give you 1hp haha theres a thread on here where different intakes were tested and stock airbox is the best apparently.

but still that intake would look freakin sexy!

I also run the AMS one-piece, balanced, lightweight pulleys... the accelleration was way better once i swapped the pulleys. And they were very reasonably priced since AMS is local in Mississauga.

check it out.

Light flywheel, shorter FD, Light pullies, all intake and exhaust mods = fastest you can go for NA.

This setup is DAMN quick for track setup for a Z, up to par with FI Z that's mostly stock *cough*rich*cough*
