What are your thoughts on running staggered tire sizes on non-staggered rims?

Default What are your thoughts on running staggered tire sizes on non-staggered rims?

I found a pair of 8.5 width rims that I like. I'd like to keep the stock proportions of having the front tires two width sizes smaller than the rear. Has anyone had any experience with this? Thanks.

Sure you can run a 255 on the back and 235 on the front or something. When I bought my car is had 8.5's all around and 255's on all four corners. It drove weird like that though, too much grip in the front and not enough in the back it was a drift machine. I changed the rims to a staggered setup.

I wouldn't run too big a stagger on the same sized rim however, will prob look weird. Just make sure if you have TCS that you maintain the aspect ratio differential between the front and rear tires so you don't mess with the TCS..

MY car has TCS and didn't set off the light with the same sized tire front and rear, but that is not always the case for most Zs.

my car has VDC, but its not working and suddenly I don't miss it at all. Winter driving is better without it! So I can do 235. 255 or 255 275 on the same rim width (as long as the rim width is appropriate) no problem? Cool. Thanks

Are they 18" or 19"?
You can't go wider than a 255 max on a 8.5 rim, especially not if they are 19's.
They recommend 225-255 for a 8.5 rim.
I would put 235 in the front and 245 in the back which is close to OEM setup.

actually, made a mistake. The rim is 9 inch wide. I'm thinking of 245 265.
