I got in touch with Speedstar, and they provided me with a reasonable quote. I've never installed anything there before, anyone had any expeirence with them? Their price is okay, I just want to know their work quality. They do painting too btw.

Speedstar is top notch. They are knowledgeable, perform excellent work and most importantly for me -100% trustworthy. They also take great pride in their work.
I will only allow a few shops to work on my zed, namely..
-Speedstar
-APH
^I trust them both.

Your in good hands OP.

I hope everything works out with you and your future z!

Thanks a lot Reality350. I was orginally going to purchase my parts with Speedstar as well, but the price turned out to be much higher than the States, so I ended up buying my parts from a US shop. It's actually Andy from Perfnissan who I purchased my parts from, most ppl know him in this forum, he's a great guy.

So the installation was my only concern, because my 08 base model doesn't have VLSD, so extra bearings, seals, output shafts and bolts are needed for my Cusco Rs 1.5way lsd to get installed properly. I have asked Speedstar that whether they have installed one for a base model before, they said no, but they'll figure something out. I guess I'll try the other shops, see who's done it before so my car doesn't become an experiment... lol.

Other than that, I think they are very knowledgeable too. They've been around for a while, never heard any complaints against them really.

yeah...vuk (owner of AMS) is a good guy to deal with....
You can't go wrong with speedstar as reality350 said. I've been going to them since they are located just down the street from me.

AMS, if you live in west end of toronto........speedstar, if you live in east/north of toronto.

Did your price match up with how much you'll have to pay for customs.

Speedstar is priced quite competitively and if there's any problems you can at least talk to them face to face.

Yeah, I did. I went to Speedstar twice, talk with them, see if they can give me a lower price because I wouldn't personally want to go through the pain of ordering overseas as well. The difference was enormous. Not only that, all the shops in the states are able to modify your invoice, so I didn't have to pay much duty + I didn't need to pay 13% pst + gst. But Speedstar, they are nice ppl, I am in no way saying that they are bad shop or anything.

I wish the best for you!

There's been a few members on here that haven't had much luck through customs/shipping. Getting their kit stolen, kits getting damaged, rims getting damaged from poor handling by the shipping company (i'm glad Forged Performance helped me out on this one instead of chasing down shipping insurance - and would have been a PITA because of the declared value being low!).

Which of these shops (dont really care about location) is good for regular everyday mechanical stuff for my Z? I have a real annoying nagging creak when im making left turns when the car is cold. I've dealt with albert at speedstar lots when I had my S2000 I just figured he was there for when I wanted toys for the car.

so according to this AMS place their website says they are open mon-sat 9-6 or whatever. I went today at like 2pm and doors are locked no one to be found. This place still in business? I phoned and left a message, waited outside for like 10 min and took off. Not too happy here considering I went from yonge and 401 to bramelea and 407 to get a store not open!! Anyone know anything? I need my suspension checked and see why i squeak when i turn left

Unfortunately, that is the case with AMS. It's odd to not be open during posted business hours...

Anyway, take your car by APH (west end), but call first.

Ed, Brian and Alic are all top notch.

You really need an apoint with AMS or its hit and miss but good shop and Vuk is a good guy. He may even come in on a sunday for you at least he did for me last year.

You should have stopped by SG-Motorsport in Brampton and seen Sasha. Sasha can hook you up with any mods or repairs from basic stuff to wild. www.sg-motorsport.com My car has been getting a lot of special care there and I highly recomend you visit. Even it ifs just to check out his Race cars

He should really remove the posted business hours though.. It doesn't make him look very professional..

well I had left a message for AMS when I was there and they phoned me this morning apologizing and explaining that he is very appointment based etc and apologizing for being at a doctors appt etc. So I guess gotta book a specific appt time. Just curious this SG place is good at troubleshooting factory suspension squeaks? Ive been by a couple places and they literally tell me "oh i think its this" and then pretty much if it dosent fix it, "well buy this" I'm not gonna replace my entire front suspension until something fixes it so Ive been walking away hence why I wanted someone very familiar with Z's. Either way Ill check them both out. May the best shop win lol
