Smile My dyno day with MD Bolt-ons

First a big thanks to APH –Ed, Brian and Alic. They were kind enough to help me out with my bolt-on dyno test,
If any of you guys are were ever contemplating hitting the dyno to see how much power your z is putting down, stop thinking and just do it. Head over to APH and talk to Edward, he will get you hooked up and spinning in no time.
I feel 100x better knowing that the mods I purchased actually made power and were not a waste of money.
Thanks again guys. I asked a lot and none of you threw tools at me…
http://www.advancepowerhouse.com/

Also a big must go out to Hydrazine (Tony@Motordyne). A great guy and very knowledgeable individual, who is always willing to lend helping hand. He also happens to make some of the best bang for the $$ mods available for our rides.
Thanks Tony.

The reason:
I don’t believe in ricer math... and having previously installed these mods on my 35th anny, with regrettably only a post dyno, I figured that given a second shot, I would dyno each mod separately to see exactly what gains were made with the addition of basic bolt-ons.
All tests were completed on the same day (within a few hours), same dynopack.

The zed:
2006 GT PPW
-Stock with the exception of a y-pipe back Blitz exhaust. 2.75”

The parts:
Motordyne 5/16th Copper Iso Thermal spacer
Motordyne Mrev2
Motordyne XYZ y-pipe (with straight pipe)

Baseline Dyno
– This run shows 219whp/ 219ft/lbs

Motordyne XYZ pipe
– This run shows a solid increase in both Torque and HP. Torque is a soild 10ft/lbs across the powerband, starting at around 3800 rpm al the way to redline. HP shows an increase of 10whp starting at around 4200 rpm, with a big jump starting at 5250 rpm with great gains all the way to redline.
Overlay of the xyz pipe vs baseline

Motordyne Mrev2 & 5/16th Iso Copper Thermal spacer (compared to xyz pipe)
- This run proves that the combination of Motordyne’s Mrev2 and 5/16th spacer makes power. This shows 20+whp and 20+ft/lbs. Proves to me that this is hands down, the best bang for the buck rev-up engine mod.
Overlay of the Mrev2, Spacer xyz pipe vs xyz pipe

Overlay between Mrev2, Spacer and xyz pipe vs baseline … Increases are clearly visible.

My best run of the day saw 240whp/ 238 ft/lbs, I was more then satisfied with the outcome. Car definitely pulls harder in all gears and the audible change was a welcome addition.

I hope this post helps revup owners who are looking into similar mods. This thread, along with many others should prove that you can't go wrong with Motordyne bolt-ons. They make power.

I have not had the z reflashed with Osiris yet. Ed already had appointments for that morning so my time was limited to Dyno + Install.
I am hoping to get that done sometime soon.. hopefully within the month.
Still very happy with the results

I really can't say for the spacer, specifically, as I purchased my Mrev2, Spacer and XYZ pipe at the same time.
It depends on which vendor you speak with. I would search the marketplace for deals.

Ninja Edit: Try contacting Hydrazine directly, perhaps he can hook you up. Just mention this thread.

Maybe I will go with HFC and Osiris on same day? hmmm cool to see. 240 to the wheels? Seems low to me with the bolt ons. Must be a heartbreaker dyno. I thought I had a heart breaker dyno done and I put donw 251.

That's a lie. I was there in person. the Dyno wasn't nearly as impressive as when Ed was dyno tuning his Z haha.

Depends on the dyno and corrections used..
I imagine you would put down about 210-220 on eds dyno stock.
These #'s were almost identical to my old zed, which was dyno'd at the SGR meet in '07. That was on a dyno-jet. (although I made much more torque with similar hp this time around.. with the stock cats)

Lets do it!.. I am still waiting for my HFC's to be available.

Now that you said you made 251whp.. We need you to back it up with a few pulls on Ed's dyno.. Call him and make an appointment for this weekend! we will all come by and watch
If you hit anywhere within 6whp.. I will buy you and christine lunch...
